Go in to your local branch and ask for some free leaflets.
Rather you than me, they use shock tactics.

I know how you feel, I did a project on SightSavers (a charity my mum donates too) in my first degree and I know that researching an institution can be quite hard. Go to their website and see what you can find there. After that, take down any contact details (email, address, other links etc) they may provide on the website.
Once that is done and you know exactly what you want your project to be about then you can start to break the contacts list down. Contact the department most applicable to what you're doing e.g. if youre doing it on marketing contact the marketing department. You proabably wont be able to get in touch with the most important person but if youre persistant, you will.
You may need to make one or to visits if the place is within your reach. Also it may help if you have a friend who helps support the RSPCA, just to get them interested and willing to help you.

You may want to visit your local RSPCA centre, this way you can have your answer hands on. Hope that is a good suggestion for you.

My suggestion would be to go to one of your local RSPCA centres, tell them what you are doing and ask them if they would give you some info.
Go to Yell.com to find your nearest one.

I HAVE NO TIME AT ALL FOR THE RSPCA BUT IF YOUR TALKING ABOUT THE PDSA YES THEY ARE WONDERFUL FOR THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PETS BUT CANT AFFORD THE INFLATED VET BILLS. I ONCE WANTED TO SAVE A LITTLE DOGS LIFE BY TAKING HIM HOME I KNEW THE LITTLE CORGI AND HE WAS TAKEN IN I HOUR BEFORE I GOT THERE AND THEY WANTED ME TO PAY THEM AND IT WASN'T CHEAP SO I DECLINED I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM WHEN THEY ASK FOR DONATIONS I PREFER TO GIVE IT TO PDSA

I think you should try to find their charter.
It will set out the purpose and aims of the organisation.
