He eats it whenever he can find it, but of course always throws it up. I know this is bad for my cat but it's hard to keep him out of it. He will actually open up cubbards to eat the plastic off a pack of toilet paper. He prefers colored plastic to clear or white especially blue. Anyone know how to deal with this problem?

My male African Grey keeps tipping his bowl over, my husband and I have tried bolting bowls to the cage, but the bowls you bolt, he can tear apart so I got some heavy ceramic bowls. The problem with this is he keeps tipping them over dumping all the food so his mate can't eat. Any suggestions?? I seperated them for a month earlier this year, but they both got worse. They have been cage mates since 1987 and he has just started this behavior this last summer.

We have recently moved to a new area and my cat is happily getting used to his new garden, but we have one problem. When he is outside he is nice and happy unless I try and go up to him. If i do this he freaks out, hisses at me and trys to run away. Once I have finally persuaded him to come indoors, he goes back to normal, and will happily come up to me and have a fuss.

He wasnt like this at our other house and my other cat is also fine.
Any ideas? At the moment I am trying to tempt him to come to me with tid bits of food but even these dont seem to work. Its as if he doesnt associate me as being me when we are outside. Very strange!

This is not a joke. He is 17 yrs old and has been seen by a vet several times and apart from being on medication for arthritus and slight urinary incontinance he is in good health. However sometimes his penis swells up and goes purple and he gets extremely uncomfortable and runs around then throws himself down and he doesn't know what to do with himself !
This problem is not consistant with him needing a wee because it can happen 10 minutes after coming back from a walk. However it can sometimes stop after a wee for a while anyway. He was neutured about 2 years ago because of a swollen prostate and this has only happened in the past 6 months.
I find it quite distressing, but my partner says I am over-reacting and the vet isn't too concerned either.
Has anyone come across this before and can I stop worrying ?

Is there any natural way for a cockatoo to trim it's own nails and beak? I'm the only one he has anything to do with, and the vet said to spook them or put them under too much stress they are prone to heart attacks. And there is no way to sedate them. He likes to stand on my hand or go up my arm and stand on my shoulder,he likes it but it's starting to get rough on me. I hope there is an answer out there, would hate to keep him in a cage all the time

When we bought him the breeder had struggled to get him weaned away from his mother. The only thing he would eat was freshly cooked chicken. Now he won't eat anything else! He does drink cat milk, so is getting calcium, but his diet (apart from being expensive) is not good for him long-term. Obviously, starving him is out of the question because cats will starve themselves to death. Any suggestions?
