Komodo dragons eat meat of any kind, live or dead. Carrion (dead animals)that they eat has large quantities of bacteria in it, that is what makes them dangerous with a fatal bite. And they hunt by biting something then following them around for up to days waiting for them to die, then they eat it. And they are not available for pets because of conservation laws that protect them. Those laws are also the reason few zoos outside of Indonesia has Komodo dragons. If you have one you were misinformed by the seller, or an idiot for having a pet that is a maneater. They do look at people as a food source because we are meat and a meal. And if you do have a monitor as bis as a dragon you shouldn't, simply because you have to ask what it eats.

Actually aside from the fact that Komodos are endangered, requiring not only the King of Indonesia's permission and our government's, you must meet certain requirements. One is if you have access to the proper food. In captive breeding programs, a staple diet typically consists of ground meets, rabbits, rats, mice, and feeder birds. It all varies on the size of the monitor (Komodo monitor a.k.a Komodo dragon).

Actually I think they prefer carrion...DEAD ROTTING MEAT...as opposed to living or freshly killed animals...YUCK!!
As of a few years ago, they had a couple of Komodos at the Metro Toronto Zoo. Hop on a search engine and look them up...they have a really good website, and might have more info on feeding captive Komodos.
I honestly hope you aren't planning on getting one...they are SERIOUSLY dangerous animals.

in case you truly do have a Komodo dragon i propose you're taking it to a zoo or specialist reptile centre as no longer surely can the boys improve to over 10ft (3m) in length they have bacteria of their saliva which when you're bitten will reason septicemia (blood poisioning) and also you may likely die. Its the way they kill their prey, which incidently has a tendency to be great goats or livestock and they have also time-honored to kill people. except that i'm particular it will make an outstanding puppy!!!!! Get it to an animal sanctuary!!!

I didn't know anyone could have one as a pet. Why not just throw a live animal in with them. If they are hungry nature will take it's course.
