PARAKEETS FANCY THEMSELVES OFTEN TO BE THE KING OF THE HILL AND OURS HAVE ATTACKED THE COCKATIELS. YOU HAVE TO INTRODUCE THEM SLOWLY AND DEFENTLY NOT START THEM IN THE SAME CAGE. MAYBE OUTSIDE THE CAGE SINCE BIRDS ARE VERY TERRITORIAL.

I have cockatiels and the avian vet told me that a parakeet and cockatiel will live together in the same cage. If you get a cockatiel make sure it is a baby and not a adult bird. A bird younger than the parakeet.

Actually, my brother owns a parakeet...He went outside one day and found a live bird on the ground...I have no idea what kind of wild bird this was, but he is actually raising this bird and parakeet together...They tried to let it go, but it won't and now lives happily with his domesticated brother...So, I imagine, any type of bird, but maybe hawks and such, could live with your parakeet...I suggest not using a wild one, though...Perhaps your vet can help...

WELL IT DEPENDS SOLELY ON THE TYPE OF BIRD YOUR PARAKEET IS, IF IT IS A PLACID BIRD THEN I WOULD SAY ANY BIRD WILL BE ABLE TO LIVE WITH IT, BUT IF IT IS A MOODY BIRD THEN I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU DO GET YOUR SELF ANOTHER BIRD IN THE LINE OF THE PARAKEET, LIKE A COCKATIEL, OR ANY TYPE OF PARROT.
