Could be peck order, the strongest are taking all the nutrition from the female. Try separating them and giving them first in line on the nipples. You could also hand feed them.

Good luck!

Well there are a few things that could be causing this! Let me ask you a question first! Is the mother pushing the pup away from her? If she is there maybe something wrong with it, and you might not be able to tell but she can. But if she is not pushing the puppy away from her maybe the puppy is to weak and the other puppies are stronger, and if that is the case I would call your vet and get puppy formula and a bottle and hand feed the puppy until it gets strong enough to eat on it's own. Also it wouldn't hurt to have the vet look over the puppies just to make sure nothing else is wrong.

If you cannot afford a vet, call an independent animal rescue or your humane society. The cause can be several things, from being pushed out by the larger puppies to the mom not having enough milk, to the smaller ones having been chilled and having a low grade infection. They can be dehydrated, which would zap their will to live.

But you need someone experienced to look at them and help you. A lot of rescuers do some of their own vet care -- shots, worm, give fluids -- and might help you place the puppies if you don't have homes lined up.

Good luck. Please post what happened under "Comments" if this question ends before your puppies are well.

Fading puppies. Check the ***** and make sure that she has adequate milk or make sure that she does not have mastitis. You might need to supplement the pups with replacer milk. Make sure that the pups are warm enough to be eating. Check the pups to make sure that they do not have any cleft palates. Also, you might have an infection in the litter. They might need to be put on some antibiotics like Clavamox.

I have had to force moms to feed. Put baby on her and make her lay there is necessary.

Please make arrangements to get them all altered before the go to other homes. Apparently this line doesn't want babies.

I had one momma come to me after she lost all but two within the first 10 days. She didn't want them. One was doing good the other I cried over everyday till he was 10 weeks and adopted. I saw him this weekend he is a doll. I cried to see how big and strong he is now at 5 months. Small for a lab but sh*tty breeding is everywhere.

Unless your pet is show quality there is no reason to breed!!!!

you need to take the mother and pups to the vet. there is a variety of reasons why this might be happening, so you need to seek profesional advice before you lose the whole litter. in the meantime you need to feed them by hand. pop to the vets and they will give you the correct milk for them.

The bigger, stronger pups!!! Make sure they get fed separately. At least until they grow a bit.
