My dog is already a little over weight (on a diet) but he's been itchy and licking his back legs for over a year. He licks them until there's open sores! He's been on and off Tamiril (spelling?) which I guess has a steroid in it and is making his weight problem worse. When he's on it the stuff works for his allergy prob. I took him off the Tamiril because of his weight issue and now he's licking his legs again!!! I don't know what to do. Doctor says just use Claritin 2 times daily and Benedryl 3 times daily!!! I don't want to drug out my dog!!! :-( What can I do???? Somebody help me!!!!

My 7 week old beagle refuses to leave the yard, i put him on a leash and he walks well with it until i try to walk down the road and he sits and cries, when i undo the leash he runs back to the yard. Where i live were not aloud fences and i want my dog to go on walks with me. I usually just let him in the yard without a leash but i want him to learn to go on walks. HELP

I just bought a cat recently and want to get her declawed. She is about 9 weeks old now, and I was wondering when the earliest possible time would be for her to get declawed. I was going to have it done when she gets fixed, but she's too out of control with her use of her claws. I don't want my furniture destroyed, and no matter what I do, she still seems to go back to where I don't want her to go. She is a Snow Bengal, so she is naturaly a little wild acting, and I do plan on having her be indoors.

For those of you who have, PLEASE post links so those who have no clue what they are and what they do can learn some very important things.
PLEASE!
Also please tell some of the horror that is found in them, and where all these cute little pet store puppies come from!
Tell the differences between them all, what they do, and then what a Reputable Breeder is, and why it's so important to deal with one.
NO I DON'T BREED, "I use to do so" but I don't breed now, and have not for a while. It's just it's so danged important to get the word out!

For everyone who sells or buys a dog/puppy. Do you know if your State has a Puppy Lemon Law? If so, do you know what the guidelines are for it?
Research Puppy Lemon Law for YOUR STATE and see what you find, "some States do not have them".
Know your responsibilities as a seller and your rights as a buyer.

I inherited my Mothers 5 yrs old Bull terrier named Adam. I promised to care for it ,just as well as she had. That was three and a half years ago.
The problem is that my son is three and a half years old and he got ruff with Adam (pulled hard on his ears)Adam responded by nipping and my three and a half year old son pulled away (i think)and it tore his skin (no stitches need)
MY question is ......will this reck there relatonship?if it did ,what would i do?I promised my late mother i would look after Adam for his remaining years..IS there any danger to my son ?or the dog?
Note:I DONTleave them alone together, but my husband forgets sometimes......................

I have felt this way ever since we had our dog put to sleep.

You are alone. Even though you have a family that loves you, even though you have a significant other, even though you have a friend or two .... you are still alone and as each day passes you look back on it as a big blur and nothing makes any sense. Somethings that used to make you happy don't anymore, and you feel like if you tell somebody they are going to pity you and judge you.

She claims that the puppy died of Parvo. But the strain she says he had takes 14 days to show up. She had him for 20 days, then claims she took it to the vet because he was sick. She also said it had severe case of worms. Now she wants to keep the puppy, get a full refund AND pay 1/2 her vet bill!
Am I liable? I have the gaurantee in writing. Every other person who took a pup from that litter has called to tell me how perfect & Healthy their pup is. One family even said their vet was shocked that a pup under 4 months had NO worms. If no other pup or Mom has parvo and I have 5 other dogs that also don't have parvo, could that one have gotten it before leaving me? Could 1 pup have "a severe case of worms" but no others? She also said it was flea infested, no others were. So, do I owe her anything?
I'm calling her vet tomorrow & mine who examined mom & pups at 2 days old.

I usually feed her about a heaping tablespoon everytime she wants it.Sometimes I also add some hard kitten food to the soft food when I have to leave the house for awhile. She is a very active kitten.I want to make sure that she is getting enough but not too much.I have heard that you feed a kitten as much as they will eat.

I have a 2G tank. I've heard to gravel pump it once a week and change 25% of the water, and totally 100% clean the tank once a month.

BUT a gravel pump once a week as some have suggested won't work because the pump cannot be totally submerged in water and won't get suction. So what do I need to do to keep the tank clean?

My 2 year old Yorkie Terrier HATES vacuum cleaners. A couple of days ago I was vacuuming and noticed that Tom, my Yorkie, chipped his front tooth. The tooth is chipped almost right down to the gum. It doesn't seem to bother him, but I don't want my dog to be in any kind of pain. Should I take him to the vet? Even if it doesn't seem to bother him? And what will happen if they take the tooth out?

What are good ways to punish a dog without being violent/verbally abusing?

My dog is not behaving lately, and first couple of times I scolded at him until I read from a book telling me to take away the dog’s freedom.

I started doing what the book says by locking him up in a cage instead of letting him freely wonder around the apartment. At first, he cried to be led out but I ignored it. *I hope it is working.

I am wondering what are the ways to let the dog know that he is under punishment.
