I usually feed her about a heaping tablespoon everytime she wants it.Sometimes I also add some hard kitten food to the soft food when I have to leave the house for awhile. She is a very active kitten.I want to make sure that she is getting enough but not too much.I have heard that you feed a kitten as much as they will eat.

You should be free-feeding her. Leave dry kitten food out for her at all times so she can eat when she feels like it. Serve the canned kitten food at mealtimes. Yes, they're growing like weeds right now, so they eat a lot and frequently. Cats generally will eat until they're full and then quit, and an active kitten isn't going to get overly heavy. In fact, only being able to eat when you "come with the food" is likely to make her eat more than usual because that "eat when food is available" instinct will be active, whereas a constant source of food with no waiting de-activates it. Remember, kittens will to their mother to nurse whenever they decide they're hungry. Weaned kittens will do the same with their food bowl.

I am so happy you said you feed her kitten food. Thats the most important thing. Feed it as recommended on the bag or box of food says. Cats usually want to be fed 2-3 times/day. IF the box says give cat 1 cup of food, give it 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night or 1/3 in am 1/3 for lunch and 1/3 for dinner. Most kittens are very active so you can probably sneak it a little extra food until its over 1 year. if you feed it as much as it will eat, it may make itself sick.

My kitten (born Jan. 1) Eats 1/2 can in the morning and the other 1/2 in the evening. I alwys leave dry food for him to nibble on throughout the day. He is not overweight nor underweight so this seems like a good plan.

Is she growing and lively? Does she look shiney healthy and her sides are not caving in? Then she's probably getting enough to eat.

If her tummy bulges out even when she hasn't eaten for awhile, she might be getting an overage, but kittens usually don't overeat.

I like to let my cats free feed... which means that I have food in their bowl at all times...but some say they should have scheduled feedings...just depends on the cat and the owner

usually 3 times a day.
talk with a vet about it, because your kitten may need special nutrition add-ins/may not be eating the right food you give them.

Two or three times a day. Kittens eat a lot, so don't worry about it.

At this age when they are growing, feed them as much as they want, and make sure to always have fresh water on hand, too.
