Our Jack Russell has always been a growler if bothered when comfortable. We've had a new puppy for three weeks and they are not getting along. The Jack Russell growls and even attempts to bite the new puppy if her territory is invaded. What do we do?

It just seems to be from one eye all the time, he also constantly has itchy ears that the vet said might be caused by allergies, not bugs (perhaps related to the eye discharge?). I don't think its the temperature/humidity in my house because we used to have a different cat (before him) and he never had any problems like this. The discharge never seems to stop and looks like normal cat eye discharge (black/reddish). The only other mentionable thing is that the fur/skin around each eye is a different colour: one's pinkish and the other is black, because of his colouring. It is the pinkish eye that is leaking.

How can I protect the rest of them when the mother insists on keeping them under our bed without a blanket. When I put one under there for her/them, she moves them and refuses the use of any blanket, bed, etc. How can I protect the other ones from dying (there are now 3 left). This is her first, and last, litter (she will be spayed once the babies are weaned). My fiance says to make her a bed out of a box, but I think that she wo't use it and will still keep the babies under the bed where it is colder than anywhere else.

The one that died is one that she had been ignoring off and on for the past 2 weeks that it had been alive. If I had known that the kitten was that bad off, I would have gotten some milk, a bottle, etc, and fed it myself. But, just when I thought she was going to ignore it completely, she would take care of it again. My fiance says that since it is her first litter, it is to be expected to lose one, maybe two of them. Is this normal?

My cat gave birth to her first litter last night @ 9:00p.m. She had 5 kittens. Her kittens seem fine but she is still panting heavy. Can she still have a kitten to deliver? It is hot in my apartment, can that be a factor? Someone please tell me that she will be O.K. She is nursing them fine. She ate but not like usual. Should I try to give her soft kitten food?

is being occupyed by my other cat. she doesn't exactly act like she knows that he's gone. but before he passed away she never layed there. ever. they were brother and sister so I don't know if that is her way of her coping with his loss or what. she's more friendly now to and she is beginning to do the unusual cute things that my other cat once did. any ideas of why she's doing these things? it doesn't bother me, I'm just curious.

I know many people think so. But, my fiance has two cats that are both declawed. Once we live to together, wouldn't it be an unfair advantage for my cat to the be only one with claws? She insists that the laser surgery is much more humane than the old method.

Also, I can't seem to be able to train my cat to stop scratching the furniture and carpet. There are numerous scratching posts in my house and I've tried spraying her with water. Nothing has worked yet.

I have a Miniature Pinscher who does not like other dogs very much. She definitely has an Alpha personality. I would like to get another small dog (a puppy), someone for her to become friends with (if she doesn't attack it first!). Does the gender of the new puppy make a difference? I've heard that if I get a male puppy, she would get along better than if it was a female. Or does "getting along with other dogs" have nothing to do with the sex of the dog? When she sees other dogs outside, she goes crazy, it doesnt matter if its a male or female. She is very territorial. Should I get a male or female, or no dog at all?

Just created this managerie last weekend. The two ducks and four of the hens go in at night and nest well. The four young hens and the hen with chicks all want to nest in trees. Will tightening up their pen space, clipping their wings and forcing them inside eventually make it work?
