i have never done this, but i live in a rural area and have seen it many times. people think they are doing a good thing for the animal. What farmer doesn't like animals? the like their own and shoot the strays. it's true.

I have never done this, but everyone seems to drop off their animals at my house. Just since Christmas, I have had two adult golden retrievers, three german shepard pups (i'd say they were mixed with something similar), and numerous cats. One of the neighbors even found a 3 foot long ball python, he didn't know what it was, just that it was a BIG snake and my aunt had her six young grandchildren not even thirty yards away, and he killed it. Unfortunately I could only keep one of the dogs (German shepard male names Ares). But my point is, people are cruel to these pets that they drop out, pets have feelings too, and don't think that they do not know that you're going away. I've seen animals sit there and wait for their mommies or daddies to come back for them, it's sad really.

No I have not, anyone that does such a thing is inhumane. Perhaps they should be taken somewhere and "dropped off"! I have cared for a dog which was "dropped off" on some marshes once. Poor thing had been there for two days! Frightened, hungry,I took him to the police station, hoping his owner may come forward. Silly me,I might have guessed they wouldn't! After a week, I took the dog home,a Border Collie, who at the time was a little terror, but I persevered and he turned out to be one of the most loyal, loving dogs anyone could wish for! He gave me such pleasure. Sadly at the age of 15, he died,a faithful friend. How could anyone be so heartless and cruel? They want shooting!!

I live in a rural area & this happens all the time. Damn people are so irresponsible. They should not have animals if they don't want to take care of them.

No, I'm the person who ends up taking care of your pets.

Dropping a dog / cat off is cruel and inhumane. They usually end up dead on the road or worse -- starve and/or dehydrate because they don't know how to fend for themselves.

I've had 17 stray cats spayed / neutered in the last 6 years.

Be a responsible pet owner .... spay and neuter your pets..... and if you can't take care of them any longer, find an appropriate home or animal rescue group to take them.

It amazes me how people can dump a live animal like a piece of trash. I do believe there is a special place in hell for people like that .....

Aww, i'm happy your cat is fantastic. I actual have a hamster in my condominium considering i am going to't have a canines. I placed him in his little play section today it truly is largely a storage bin with toys and tubes and issues, in spite of the indisputable fact that it doesn't have a lid. I went to the kitchen for a jiffy and when I got here decrease back he became lengthy gone. he's so tiny and my room is kinda messy so for a chop up 2d I freaked out. i did not imagine i'd ever see him back. yet after what felt like an eternity, he poked his little head out from a pair of my jeans. he's fantastic, luckily.

No, but I lease some land that is at the end of a long country road and there are probably 20 or more dogs dropped off at the end of that road every year.

No.
We did drop off a duck at a cemetary pond, when we were kids.
Nowadays, I don't do that kind of stuff and I wish people would wise up...the odds that a pet would survive or someone would find and care for it are pretty slim.

NO but I live in a military town and nobody takes their pets with them when they move.. they just leave them outside.. there are about 6-10 stray cats in my tiny subdivision alone! Its called neglect , and its actually a punishable crime!!
