Wth the recent Imus situation it is clear that freedom of speech has limitations for white folks. Can anyone give me a list of unacceptable words please?
I know I can't say N#ppy and H#, but what else.
Ooops I just said N#ppy and H#e....hang on someone is at my door........oh it's just the irreverent Sharpton and Hvmietown Jackson protesting.
Seriously though...what words can I not say as a white man and are there any words that a black man can't say?

I had to change the spelling on a few words because yahoo censored this the first time. I doubt this question even sees the light of day either.

No need to Google up"Gulf of Tonkin", "Northwoods Document", "False Flag", "Operation Gladio", or any juicy stuff like that. Just post other experiments, bizarre legislation, and examples of obvious social engineering.

Have fun with it.

To providing as much tangible good and charity to society as Imus?

He raised 1 million for Sids two days ago, he runs the ranch for kids with cancer, he gives quite a bit of his money to charity.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, chase the spotlight like lawyers chasing ambulances, they shake down corporations with the threat of the race card. In the years that they have worn the leadership mantle of their communitites, nothing tangible has happened. If anything crime has risen and the plight of African Americans has worsened. How can this be a good thing for society.

Words can hurt, but loosing actual tangible help for charities can be physically damaging.

How can this be a good thing?

I don't like Imus but it is a shame that a person is judged for a remark they make and not for all their other actions.

It's amazing how the supposedly staunch defenders of free speech cave in to the political point of view of those who attend their cocktail parties when it comes to some speech. If one is for freedom of speech, shouldn't one defend speech that is also offensive? What happened to the marketplace of ideas?

Unlike other media channels PBS has a reputation for airing balanced, well documented materials. Should they require Burns to get it right or not show it if he doesn't? If Ken Burns won't do the right thing then PBS should. I hold them to higher standards

Yes. Don Imus overstepped his bounds and made a terribly inappropriate comment on the radio about the Rutgers team. Yes, disciplinary action (including his firing) should have occurred.

Someone asked me yesterday, "Scott, what do YOU think about the whole Imus thing?"

I said, "Well, I'm glad the Iraq war is finally over. I'm glad they've got enough doctors at Walter Reed. I'm glad they've fixed social security and medicare. I'm glad they've figured out how to revamp medicaid here in my home state, and it's a darn good thing they've finally fixed the whole healthcare crisis in America."

What?? You mean these problems HAVEN'T been solved yet? Then what the hell is the media doing covering Don Imus and Anna Nicole Smith?

Just curious, I can't believe he just walked in one day to pick out that team and say that. Maybe he did, but I haven't heard the rest of the story.

I just wanted to know if Tyra Banks has been fired from her daytime show for using the words Nappy Head if refrence to one of her guests. If she hasn't I want to know why? Is it because she is an African American that said this? If this is the case am I to believe that as long as I am of the same race that I am speaking about it is okay? Also has Spike Lee or any Rappers been fined, suspended or fired? Equality means equal for all. If Equality is what is been searched for then all races should be fined, suspended or fired for using these terms. Until this occurs it is an injustice to fire or suspend Don Imus for something that is being done and said every day. D & G Gifts Etc

Do you think people will stop supporting the rap artist that sell cd's with that same language?

2007-04-12 20:31:56 · 6 answers · asked by damron 3

It's OK for blacks to use demeaning language, but when a white guy does it? Don't get me wrong. He blew his career. What gets me pis8ed is the double-standard. There are as many radio stations not to mention MTV or VH1 that broadcast equally-offensive language via Hip-Hop or Rap constantly. Nobody does anything about THAT! If Imas is offensive, why aren't the other public figures who are even more offensive being dumped on? And don't give me the cr8p that "It's an art form so it is different". Talk radio is also an art form. I was in broadcasting for over 40 years and would never have done what Imas did. I'm old school...I always kept it cool. Offensive is offensive be it spewed by black, white or green people.

Why is it that rappers, white and black say this stuff all the time and women, and people in general are buying cds and dancing to it?

Certainly the whole issue wouldn't have happened if he hadn't made the comments. And the comments were clearly inappropriate. But the magnetude of the response seems WAY out of proportion for the comment and subsequent apology. What is your take on this circus?

2007-04-12 17:43:27 · 17 answers · asked by notBob 3

I think there is a serious double-standard when it comes to racial slurs and racism in general. How can entertainers like Snoop Dogg spew bile with imupunity while a white guy is disgraced and let go. Hey I'm not condoning Imus' remarks, they were out of the proverbial line, but the entire situation is ridiculous. It has been reported that even General Motors and other corporations have pulled out due to fear of their advertising of the show leading to protests and boycotts. Either way, it is sad that a thing this obvious isn't ever mentioned on television.

Imus proved that in America, a black person can say anything they want degrading white Americans, if a white person accidently slips up and says anything against anyone or anything related to blacks you pay with your life.. a 3 second slip up is all it takes.. support Imus America if you are black or white..he doesnt deserve the death sentance even though he was wrong in his error.
