I listen to the Big Show on ESPN Radio. Keith Olbermann had a good explanation about the situation yesterday prior to the annoucement of the firing. It seems that Imus regularly spoke about his fellow co-workers in a derogatory way. Especially the women. Imus did this once a week. It just so happens that his remark about the Rutgers womens basketball team was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Imus directed his remark towards college students. Remember, these were not prostitutes, but students in college, that just so happen to play basketball. And not all the players were black, might I add. There are some members of the team that are white. But Imus made a blanket statement.

The result: Major companies pulled their sponsorships. General Motors, Proctor and Gamble, etc. When businesses like these pull their support, that's serious. MSNBC & CBS had no choice but to let Imus go. I know it had to be hard on CBS: Imus was bringing in $15 million dollars per year.

I'm not a fan of Imus, but I'm not happy that he got fired either. But he has a history of disrespecting others around him. I don't condone that. Never have, never will.

And for the record: I'm black and I listen to hip-hop. But I also will get on certain rappers' lyrics when they degrade women. I'll swing the axe both ways, when I see fit.

Remember this from the rapper Ice-T: a title from his third album.

"Freedom of Speech......Just Watch What You Say"

The word "ho" is a black term, not a white term. It originated from the black community.

There is definitely a double standard when black rappers and hip hoppers sing about degrading women, n*ggers, b*itches, ho's.....why is this OK in the black community? It's time for the black community to look within and question their own morality.

As far as Sharpton and Jackson go, they're much bigger racists than Imus could ever be. Tawana Brawley, Hymietown are just two examples....the only difference between Imus and these 2 clowns is that Imus apologized.

There is more to this story Imus is a powerful media person. Don't think about what he said its a distraction for something else. Remember all media corportions are run by Jews and they all know each other. Anytime any one group of people have a monopoly on something its not good for us.

Don Imus got fired because because the black version of the Klu Klux Klan got involved (NAACP). They are nothing but hatred breeding ignorant fools who think that because their ancestors were mistreated that they have more rights than anyone else. They claim they want equality - my a** - thats why the white man can not get a job he is qualified for and loses it to an african american who is not qualified. No, I am not a racist - I believe that equal rights should apply to EVERYONE no matter your color, sex, sexual preference, religion, but you can't make equality happen when people are afraid of the naacp.

I think they were just trying to find a reason to get rid of him-what he said wasn't that horrible, its not like he threatened them or anything, Howard Stern says horrible things every minute of every day, Don Imus probably wasn't a money maker like Stern. People are just too sensitive!

Because people need to blow smoke up their own asses instead of just getting over words. Don Imus makes for a lot of smoke.

I think it was a combination of things. First of all because of what he said, AND on the tv station or network that he said it on.
We all know how the media has turned this thing into something that it was never intended to be. Sure, it was the WRONG thing to say and he was wrong in doing it, but come on, like you said....other people have said WORSE. They still have their jobs and their livelihood.
He should have known better, really. But I don't think he should have lost his job over it....

Because of the power of the two black ministers, they needed a scape goat; rather than focus on the rap artists in the same fashion because of fear, they decided to focus on the most popular TV/Radio host. What losers

That is the rules of political correctness.
White males can't say certian things.
However, black males can say the same thing and get paid well for it.
