When I was in the military, the blacks would call each other "n i g g e r " in greeting. Yet that term is such a bad thing for a white person to say.

Quite frankly, blacks can go screw themselves. They are their own worst enemy and know it not.

Imus is held up nationally as a political spokesperson. He often has political guests on his program and frequently has political discussions. He represents a white majority population that in the not too distant past, horribly repressed the Black population. To allow a man like Imus to promote racism on such a forum is to allow the potential for the abject racism and repression of our past to begin to creep back into our society.

Racism is a right-wing attribute (which is quite obvious on this forum) and Imus speaks to that audience. He knew his audience would appreciate those comments and he was more than willing to cater to their racist whims. A decent society must put a man like Imus and his right-wing Archie Bunker followers in their place.

Hey lighten up. In the department store of life, Don Imus is in the toy section. He's not that important, either to get mad at or to lionize.
He's not a bad guy and he's not a hero. He's a potty mouth radio guy, and he's out of style so he lost his job. It happens all the time in the entertainment business.

Let's be real here, he didn't exactly get "the death sentence", he just got fired. He could have been somewhat of a "martyr" if he had stood up and refused to apologize, retaining what was left of his dignity. But he didn't, even after he got fired on both TV and radio, he still went to apologize to the women even though they said ridiculous statements like "getting scarred for life"! By getting on his knees and begging for forgiveness, he admitted to the world he was wrong and won't even be a martyr, much less a hero.

Imus deserved to be fired for all the dumb things he has said on the radio or TV. It is about time that he paid for his sexist and racist sins.
