I think there is a serious double-standard when it comes to racial slurs and racism in general. How can entertainers like Snoop Dogg spew bile with imupunity while a white guy is disgraced and let go. Hey I'm not condoning Imus' remarks, they were out of the proverbial line, but the entire situation is ridiculous. It has been reported that even General Motors and other corporations have pulled out due to fear of their advertising of the show leading to protests and boycotts. Either way, it is sad that a thing this obvious isn't ever mentioned on television.

I agree w/ you. Al Sharpton is someone to talk. He hates cops and has called for violence in many situations. Imus was stupid but he didn't call for violence. I'm going to sell my GM stock and I'm going to call CBS 212-846-7638 and let them know how I feel.

Running away from anything with a stink on it. GM and Ford are having a tough enough time without offending anyone by supporting a guy that shot himself in the foot with his mouth.

Plus they are saving whatever cost they had on his show.Yes, there is a very serious imbalance on who can say what and when. Check Al Sharptons background and see how many riots he has started because of hate speech. Tawana Brawley case is just one from about 15 years ago. He was supposed to pay some type of restitution and apologize but did neither. There was another case of his involving a Jewish store owner and ended up causing a riot and an innocent Jewish man was beaten to death. Both Sharpton and Jackson have a lot of baggage in their rat jacket also.

I blame most of this on Politicians catering to a segment of society for votes. Politicians will do most anything once they have tasted the " Power" that comes with high office. I have my political beliefs but I think this applies to both major parties if not all parties.

I hope this means that the public is losing tolerance for bad language in the media. That would include Snoop Dogg et al. too.

A great move. It shows there's no room for garbage like that in the public airwaves. Let that be a clear warning for the others out there; I'm sure they'll get the message loud and clear.

Imus is held up nationally as a political spokesperson. He often has political guests on his program and frequently has political discussions. He represents a white majority population that in the not too distant past, horribly repressed the Black population. To allow a man like Imus to promote racism on such a forum is to allow the potential for the abject racism and repression of our past to begin to creep back into our society.

Racism is a right-wing attribute (which is quite obvious on this forum) and Imus speaks to that audience. He knew his audience would appreciate those comments and he was more than willing to cater to their racist whims. A decent society must put a man like Imus and his right-wing Archie Bunker followers in their place.

GM blows. Crappy product followed by crappy advertising. The reason they dropped him is because of the blacks buying their products. 300M ring a bell?
