society would be in a state of decay if Imus were allowed to stay on the air admist all of his racist tirades of the past. Basically this has been a long time coming and he has brought all of this upon himself. As far as BET being taken off the air, a white company owns it and decides what is or is not played. Maybe the programming executives who are mostly white, should work on changing what they promote on the station. Maybe the record exeuctives who are mostly white, should work on evolving rap. Maybe the people who mostly buy rap( believe or not, white males are the main demographic group purchasing rap), should work towards changing rap.

good thing he is off the air...its not like anyone was listening to him anyways. in the context he said it is not right. he clearly crossed the line......i often hear white people call the N word on channels like the history channel, cnn even the mtv show (the real world) but they don't get taken off the air because the context they used the certain words was correct and understandable....but here we have a radio host who is calling these girls 'hardcore hos' etc. for the reason that the lost one game. it would be racist for anybody, blacks and white if they publicly use derogative words against a specific group or person. why BET should be taken off the air? did they come out and racially insulted someone?

nicely, i do in comparison to Imus, and that i relatively do not pay attention to him. and that i relatively do in comparison to or in any way believe the comments he made. besides the undeniable fact that, I do have slightly a concern with limiting one's ideal to loose speech. i don't purely like the belief of banning some thing that is going against what i've got self assurance in. If that have been the case, Fox information may well be completely off the air. No, the best thank you to handle people who you do not believe is to easily ignore approximately them. Imus' achievement relies upon completely on his rankings from his listening aim industry. If adequate human beings turn him off, he will disappear from the airwaves fantastically quickly. and that's fantastically plenty my philosophy - If i do in comparison to a minimum of a few thing I pay attention, I turn the channel. fantastically straightforward. the best to loose speech is there to guard unpopular speech moreso than standard speech.

B.E.T. is a network, Don Imus was an employee of a network.....BIG DIFFERENCE!!
I agree that rappers lyrics are a scourge on society, but they are fully supported by the record companies, since they make them so much money. And those companies are not controlled by minorities.......

This is a sad day in america when a mans apology is not good enough for a race of people to accept. This is the only the beginning. I remember when on the playground someone called you a name you had a come back and it was over. Why oh why does the america media shove a microphone in the face of two of the most racsit poeples faces when anytime something like this happens. Sharpton and Jackson should have both been fired long ago for their remarks. There is a double standard in this country. What is good for the goose is NOT god for the gander.

Rappers are not right, they are just smarter than Imus because they know their audience
Rappers are smarted than Imus because they can use offensive language towards women and then women go out and buy their CDs and dance to their music.
They are not right, they are just smarter than Imus.
Rappers also know that if any public figure comes after them, their records sells will go through the roof.

I think Brandon summed it up quite well----and I salute him for his courage.
Our society is in a severe state of decay.
To top it all off there's probably some rich lawyers coaching certain team members about how a few tears now will be sure to get the Jaguars and free college educations later.

freedom of speech is a thing of the past. perhaps you did not know that. imus was really wrong, but sharpton and jackson have done the same sort of thing in the past and prevail. tell me what is fair in freedom of speech.
