Imus is a prime example. He never even said anything about race. He may be a sexist. But not a racist. And it is sad that huge Network like CBS can be bullied by two individuals like Al Shaprton and Jesse Jackson. The only 2 people in the world that love to throw out the race card every chance they get.

If the mainstream media is supposedly saturated with this kind of thinking, then that wouldn't be very "liberal" - right?

Unless you picture a huge panel of blacks and jews that sit around dreaming up ways to make 'Tickle-Me-Elmo' and 'Spongebob Squarepants' seem like a homosexual couple...

Don Imus gets fired over his comments. We hear similar words being used by a lot of hip hop artists all the time. Do
people not find that offensive? If yes, then shouldn't all these hip hop artists be held accountable too? If no, then isn't that discrimination? I know what Snoop Dogg said....we are talking about da hos in da hood and not young college athletes. But what different does it make? We are all human beings....and all laws and/or rules should be the same for everyone regardless of race.....shouldn't there be civil rights for all races then? Better yet, get rid of civil rights and why don't we all live on this planet peacefully and in harmony as one race....THE HUMAN RACE.

I don't think that he should have been fired for cracking a joke. Black people make white jokes all of the time and nothing ever happens to them, where's the justice in that??

I think we all saw this coming. CBS has axed Don Imus' radio show. It's over for him in the big leagues, at least for now.

What will Don Imus do next? Will he pop up on radio somewhere else? Maybe he will write a book, or go on a public speaking tour...

I am doing a groupe project with a few other people in a Communication & Gender class. Our topic is "Women who decide not to have children" and we are having trouble finding sources in the media that represent ANYTHING that has to do with this such as:
-How certain types of commercials only portray women as mothers
-Television shows on the topic
-News coverages.
Any help is appreciated. Like I said, we're having a very hard time finding recourses.

I agree that his comments were racial remarks, and he was VERY wrong. BUT, if he were a black man on a sindicated radio show, would anyone have batted an eyelash about this? If it were white women sitting on the bench and he called them a bunch of crackers or something racial about white women, would it have been discussed further? What do you think. Again, I do feel he was wrong, he is a jerk period, I never liked his show, but its ok for some people to say racial things on the air, like black rappers, but an old white guy says the same thing, or something not even as harsh as they do and the man loses his job... it is a bit crazy

don imus just got fired from cbs radio, although the rutgers woman basketball team did not even call for it. the only person who seemed to have wanted this is Sharpton, the companies and advertisers listened. im not saying what Imus said is ok, but Imus has done much more good over his years (helping children with cancer) than bad. so what gives?

Bill O'Reilly has made various statements in the past that suggest he is against Africa Americans and Latino Americans. Why do we let him continue to be an idiot? Not sure.

We should pursued the show's advertisers to drop The O'Reilly Factor (or whoever the show is called) and throw this moron out on the street. Can't stand him.

I came across some family's photos while I was searching for images on Yahoo. And some of them are of a little girl naked in the bathroom, this creeps me out and makes me wonder if these images should be censored.

As a white male I am sick of the way my race runs and hides whenever a black activist cries racism. Wake up white america. We built this country. Wake up black people who arent simple minded. You also helped build the country. There is no reason we should continue to give that fat criminal al sharpton any credibility. Jesse Jackson should not be given any credibility. They exploit black problems for advance their own agendas. They feed off black misery. Pathetic. And white people run and hide instead of sticking up one another. Al shrpton should be in jail. He is a fat crimnal.

OK, Imus is a jackass - he has been for almost 40 years. His remarks were offensive and warranted an apology. He gave one. Despite it all, he has now been fired. Not only was this thing blown way out of proportion, but this is a major blow to free speech.

Now listen carefully...

This is America. You do NOT have the right to not be offended. What ever happened to "stick and stones"? This was immature namecalling and nothing more. The man is a shock jock, for chrissakes! What do you expect?

Most importantly, we cannot allow free speech, no matter how offensive to some, to continue being stiffled. The First Amendment is first for a reason.

The Ottawa treaty was signed to ban the use and stockpiling of anti-personnel (AP)mines. Most of the world considers APs illegal, yet noone denounces Iraqi "insurgents" for using them.
Technically, IEDs are AP mines. More than 10,000 est. Iraqi civilians have been decimated by these landmines.
