No. Even though he was out of line with his comments, black rappers and comedians make fun of black women and use misogynistic language all the time but nothing happens! There is no justice when the rappers can get away with calling women hos and b's but if a white man says it he pays a huge price! Imus is being used as a pawn when the REAL offenders are still out there selling millions and making millions for greedy record companies. The standard should be set for EVERYONE regardless of race or background! No justice at all! Shame!

This has gotten out of control and I feel we are now in a war of censorship. No Imus shouldn't have been fired for saying something stupid. Was Jesse Jackson fired for calling New York "Hymie Town"? Was Al Sharpton fired for accusing Steven Pagones, the DA in Wappingers Falls of raping and defecating on Tawana Brawley. These people don't have 1/100th the compassion that Don Imus has in his little finger. Enough. It's time to stand up and say enough!

I do not think the punishment fit the crime! He has been making very crude remarks for a long time and I put the blame on the producers of his shows. They should have curtailed his tongue long before this came to pass.
He has a very informative and pleasant show and he certainly did not have to resort to belittling people in the mistaken belief that it is funny.
His friends should back him up and try to get him a new radio show. I wish him well.
I also resent the fact that the leaders of the pack, Sharpton and Jackson demanded and were successful in getting him fired from both his TV and Radio shows as they were involved in events that proved them liars and cheats and they ruined lives as well.
After the first apology, Imus should have fought back. Think of the millions of dollars he has brought to charitable needs such as Autistic Children, Crippled Military, Death Benefits for families of those killed in action and his Ranch for children with Cancer.

I do think what Imus said was hurtful but I dont understand why its made such a big deal out of when its something about blacks.... if he would have just called them tattooed Ho's... nobody would care. Howard Stern degrades women everyday and makes fun of mentally challenged people and nobody cares. Blacks want to be treated as equals but the rest of us deal with stupid comments and insults about our religion, sex, or handicaps by choosing not to watch or endorse the people that makes these comments. So why do they think there better or different from the rest of the world and should not have to deal with the same stupid people the rest of us do

Imus comments were ignorant but I don't think he should have been fired. Black women are portrayed negatively in rap videos. If he is fired for calling the women ho then rap video should be taken off for calling women ho too.

No he should not have been fired. We need to get rid of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. They are the true racists here and everyone knows it. Whatever happened to The Freedom of Speech? I guess this only covers certain groups of people.

No. Comment wasn't racist but it was in poor taste and he apologized. Rosie O'Donnell said the ching chong comment which was worse in my opinion and she has a job. I guess black leaders are more powerful then chinese. oh well. god bless america.

Double standard. Problem is our laws do not allow whites to make negative comments about black females. True or not.

BTW al sharpton should focus on the gang and black on black violence going on in the communities.
