Don Imus gets fired over his comments. We hear similar words being used by a lot of hip hop artists all the time. Do
people not find that offensive? If yes, then shouldn't all these hip hop artists be held accountable too? If no, then isn't that discrimination? I know what Snoop Dogg said....we are talking about da hos in da hood and not young college athletes. But what different does it make? We are all human beings....and all laws and/or rules should be the same for everyone regardless of race.....shouldn't there be civil rights for all races then? Better yet, get rid of civil rights and why don't we all live on this planet peacefully and in harmony as one race....THE HUMAN RACE.

Yes I do find a lot of the lyrics used by today's hip hop artists offensive. However, what you have to remember is that a majority of these artists are indeed, street thugs and their music reflects their environment. People who listen to hardcore hip hop listen to it by choice and expect to here such dialogue. However, Imus is not the host of hip hop talk show. He is, or rather was, the host of nationally syndicated talk show, both on radio and television, and he has to be accountable for the things he say. The comment he made about the black women of the Rutgers basketball team was totally out of line. He referred to them has being "nappy headed whores". Where in the world did that comment even come from? How could he have even let those words come out of his mouth? Rutgers is a school well known for it's academics. It is an Ivy League school whose name is synonomous with Harvard, Princeton and Yale, which is makes it pretty safe to assume that the women in question have to have displayed a great deal of class and intelligence to get to where they are now. Don Imus was no only successful in casting a dark cloud over the accomplishments of the Rutgers womens team, but also in reviving the racial tensions which was most recently stirred up by Michael Richards (Kramer) of Seinfeld. At least Richards attack was provoked by hecklers. Imus' racial attack was totally unprovoked. Many of the women didn't even know who he was until his comments were made public. His actions were unexcusable.

As far as civil rights go, civil rights means that All should people should be treated equally, regardless of race, color or creed. So my question to you is why would you not want everyone to be treated equally? I think you are mistaking civil rights with affirmitive action. I agree with the concept of one race the human race. The question is however, when will we start treating one another like humans? Peace and God bless.

Why is everybody trying to scapegoat the rappers? First, of all the rappers don't have 30+ years in the broadcast field and have been given many past warnings. Secondly, the rappers don't own these major record labels and promote themselves!!! A lot of these rappers come from nothing straight off the streets. Their mental state is not developed enough to known anything different. A product of their environment! Why aren't we mentioning the executive and CEO's of these record labels which are pushing these guys and making money. Also, not all rappers curse and degrade women.Common, Talib Kwali, Lupe Fiasco, Public Enemy, etc.... The problem is not a rap issue the problem is a moral issue. The only common thread between IMUS and some rappers is that both have executives that stand by an let this stuff slide. Instead, of controlling the people that they employee that being IMUS or rappers or whomever. The ultimate responsibility is the record companies which put the music out and the radio stations that broadcast the music on the airwaves to the masses. Stop bashing the rappers!!!!

What IMUS said was ignorant, sexist and wrong, but this is how he feels and he spoke on it. As an American he has the freedom of speech, but sometimes this freedom comes with consequences. His was being fired. Now if you can be fired for saying something offensive, is that really freedom?

I keep hearing the same comments about rappers and music. I am not a racist by any means, but rap music is the top selling music genre because of white listeners, not black ones. Most blacks dub music from each other, and buy underground copies from the streets. Whites are the largest consumers of rap music, and whites dominate the board rooms of most of the major companies that sell rap. The stupidity that is spouted on cd's, and MTV is left untouched because it makes loads of MONEY! Even though the comments were out of line, Imus' comments were taken to heart because of the response from the advertisers, and the DOLLARS that they stood to lose by staying with the show.

Snoop dog talks about ho's because i'm sure an ugly fella like him with women all over him...has seen his share of ho's .... Imus was wrong and should have been fired because he singled out a group of women that he knew nothing about!

I agree! There is a huge double standard in this country! Misogynistic and hate speech should not be tolerated by anybody. Jesse Jackson is a hypocrite-he once called New York City "hymietown" and Al Sharpton has gone too far! I'm all for civil rights and treating black women well, but go after the real troublemakers-the rappers! Shame!

Rappers today are anti education, anti cop, anti women rappers today should be held accountable for there words. Why is it ok for them to say the n word or call a woman a ***** ho but a washed up Shock Jock calls a team not one person a nappy headed ho and he gets fired, if this was a rapper and the fcc was to come down on them his sales of cds would of sky rocketed and made them 200 times the money.

first of all, I heard the "hip hop songs" debate 1000 cases. So what ,stupid rap artists use words like ***** and hoe. that would not make it right. human beings have continuously fought against the hip hop artists, yet they have on no account gained, so the debate has gotten pushed aside. in my opinion, i do no longer help it, and if i ought to i could get them off the radio, too. Don Imus had no right to declare what he stated and that's it! we are the human race, and that i'm happy you desire shall we be one race. it is not occurring, nonetheless. I desire the right comparable element, in spite of the undeniable fact that it is not occurring every time quickly. i think of that's obtrusive, so until eventually we are able to stay in cohesion, we ought to continuously combat against sexist bigots like Imus and Hip Hop artists. do no longer in simple terms settle for what Imus stated, by fact hip hop artist do the comparable element. i'm hoping you do no longer seem to them as your ethical instruction manual. P.S. Omg, i won't have the ability to have self assurance you stated "Get rid, of Civil Rights." do you comprehend that's what has extra many races from an oppressive state? we ought to continuously save our Civil Rights. If we don't, then we could slip returned into that state. You optimism is unrealistic. it will be a protracted time previously race is exceeded over. until eventually THEN, we want Civil Rights, for each guy or woman's sake. Imus has Civil Rights yet blacks do, too. He crossed the line with the remark, and harm some particularly intelligent women human beings's emotions. you could no longer push aside that. How do you think of those women human beings sense? How do you think of they sense being overshadowed by Imus's sexist and racist comments, whilst the carried out something super? It truly hurts me to even think of approximately it. I comprehend your opinion, yet i do no longer think of your finding on the massive photograph here. Please a minimum of qualify my opinion. *sigh* i think greater helpful, getting that off my chest.
