Over 100 people were killed in the streets during thier celebrations of thier Iraqi football team making it to the Asian Cup Finals. Suicide bombers in cars, and many parked car bombs was the main cause.

Why even go by a parked car? It baffles me....

How is the government handling this? How widespread is it compared to the flooding from Katrina?
I hope that everything works out better for the UK than it has for our Gulf Coast.

2 weeks ago I read something about Ratzinger wanting to reinstate the Latin Mass with its exhortation to Jews to convert. Did I read that right? Was it from some lower Vatican official? Whatever became of it?

With Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch being lied about to this extent and the FBI lying.what has our country been reduced to?
Yet they expect (provide marks on reviews annually/semi annually) their soldiers to be honest and have integrity...we expect the same from our President? WHY??

U.S. must pay $101.7 million to men framed by FBI

would he be just as sympathetic to my cause?

I get the impression no. In fact I would pretty much say with certainty that he would be sitting there in his plush house watching me on TV condemning me for being so stupid for leaving my child all alone.

And would he donate to my fund? Would he heck ...... but what am I talking about. I wouldnt have set up a fund in the first place. I would be focusing my energy on finding my child than seeing how much I can make out of the situation.

The bottom line is we all know Gerry would have sit there roundly condemning any one of us in his situation, yet because he's in it, he expects everyone to be fawning over him as though HE'S the victim!

"The surge (increase of 30,000 American troops) has done very well indeed in making a difference in security conditions. There's no question, in the Anbar (province) and Baghdad area. But it's not a light switch. You don't just flip something up and everyone is reconciled," Crocker said in an interview in his office in Saddam Hussein's Republican Palace.

He concluded: "I think it is very important that for own interests that we stay with this until Iraq gets to the point of sustainable stability, I think that can be done."

Do you still think Iraq is a lost cause?

Do you think he will "make the world a little bit safer for all kids if possible" (you'd think I was making this quote from Gerry up. Sadly Im not)

I cant wait to see when he starts lecturing to the EU on how we need to adopt the Americans model of child protection because ours is inadequate. Already he has discussed this issue with some politicians with a view to making this happen.

You can't legislate against stupidity Gerry. Hence why Madeleine is missing in the first place.

she is so well know globely, that a childless couple could not possibily expect to be able to keep her, and people like that who are so desperate for a child would not harm her, and god forbid if some sickos took her, why not take one of the younger simblingsinstead? easier to manage.
consider the actions of her parents before and after the child went missing,.
so what do you think happened to the only victim is this sad sad case

Its not till he gets to the last paragraph he even mention Madeleine by name at all.

By that time he told us how great Washington is in the early morn, and how grandiose the British Embassy is.

Lets sharpen the knives people. lol

A nursing home cat is apparently able to predict the deaths of residents, curling up next to them in their final hours . . .

Is he clever and kind or is he suffocating them?

Up until now I have been watching this story from a distance and trying not to form judgments about the people involved (except the mob of stalkers who appear OBSSESED by this case and Gerry)

But I am curious about peoples 'honest' views on Gerry McCann’s statement to ABC. I have no evidence to suggest he is lying so I accept it at face value. Is what he is saying happened really unreasonable? Do we all not make these kinds of judgment calls daily?

"Appearing and speaking on ABC's Good Morning America, the heart specialist said: "We were dining 50 yards away and we could see the apartment from where we were. It's like we were sat in our back garden, all be it at the end of our garden. The kids were sound asleep and they were being checked regularly. We didn't think we needed a babysitter. We are good parents and what we did felt perfectly reasonable at the time.

Hindsight is an incredible thing. Clearly we couldn't have predicted what was to happen."

I like the McCann family and support them and I wonder if those who don't are just jealous of them.

My question is =

would the anti McCanns like to give us details of their FACEBOOK-MYSPACE accounts so we can see the face behind the slander or do they just want to hide behind the keyboard?

Channel 4 News presenter Alex Thomson said the Madeleine McCann story did not deserve its news ranking: "I've been sickened by the way the media have allowed themselves to be taken for a full-scale ride by the McCanns." He added that the parents'

conduct, "a contributory factor in the abduction, was largely downplayed or ignored altogether by sycophantic, gullible blanket coverage."

Okay, we have established that the SP gets a budget from Whitehall to spend as it sees fit.
Free NHS prescriptions, elderly care and University fees are very expensive, so what in reality are the Scottish people "losing out on" to pay for the above?

No bigoted responses please, posted in good spirit.

I tend to draw reactions that aren't so much shades of grey, but rather just black or white!

LOL (I wouldnt have it any other way. I'd be disappointed if all I got was muted, middle of the road reactions)

Generally regarded as a beautiful country, nice people, nice weather.

Well I say nice weather, but we all know where Australia is with regards to its position to the equator in comparison to say Europe and North America.

Give it a few months say (October / November) and suddenly Gerry will discover what a wonderful child exploitation facility Australia has and will head off on a 'fact finding' mission there as well.

Isn't this contradicting yourself in the one sentence?

Nick Carter, the editor, said: “A tiny minority of people seem to want to say nasty, spiteful and defamatory things. They are bombarding our site"

If they are such a minority, then surely you would hardly notice their messages amongst the 'millions' of messages of support the McCanns receieve.

Unless of course its all a lie, and the fact is there is a sizeable majority of criticism for the McCanns which is why they have had to ban people's comments because its too much work for them to sift through what may be liebelous and what is not.

Because Im pretty sure that when people are sending a message to the Leicester Mercury, they arent sending a message then writing another message and sending it. Then writing another one ......... and so on.

I think Nick Carter needs to question why he is being 'bombarded' by criticism and think to himself that maybe, just maybe, people are sick of the sycophantic media in this country.

I just caught the tale end of a conversation on my local radio station. Apparantly there is a story buried within the pages of the Daily Mail about him being on a hunger strike.

I just hope he's successful and that we don't have to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds keeping him alive.
