would he be just as sympathetic to my cause?
I get the impression no. In fact I would pretty much say with certainty that he would be sitting there in his plush house watching me on TV condemning me for being so stupid for leaving my child all alone.
And would he donate to my fund? Would he heck ...... but what am I talking about. I wouldnt have set up a fund in the first place. I would be focusing my energy on finding my child than seeing how much I can make out of the situation.
The bottom line is we all know Gerry would have sit there roundly condemning any one of us in his situation, yet because he's in it, he expects everyone to be fawning over him as though HE'S the victim!

EDIT: Well hung - I would certainly understand why people would be slagging me off and I would be holding my hands up straight away and saying I did wrong, and asking people to help me. I would not be in denial and say I was merely naive and that the child's disappearance was nothing to do with me.

Katherine - I won't need to see a shrink once Gerry and Kate are arrested. My job will be done!

Holding ones hands up is all that was needed. To say what they did was wrong would of gained them more respect and compassion.
However, they have decided to not admit to their wrong doing and are now realising that the general public do not condone child neglect.
My sympathy lies with Madeleine not her irresponsible parents.

Would it matter what you did and what other people thought, because your main focus would probably be the loss of your child?
This has been my point in this debte all along - okay, so Gerry and Kate McCann aren't behaving in the way you might if your child was snatched. Perhaps they do have a case of child neglect to answer but right now at this moment - all that should matter is Madeleine. Everyone is focussing on every tiny detail of the parents behaviour but it makes no odds - the child is still missing.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - until she is found, nothing else matters.

If roles were reversed and you lost your child, I don't think you would get the same media attention and funding as they did. Children go missing all the time but people never hear much about them.
EDIT I don't think you would be that careless to neglect your child anyway.

Did he show any sympathy to the 2 American women in jail who left their kids alone while they went out for the night, no he didn't. Tragically, their children died in a house fire. These parents are in JAIL for neglecting their children, even though the oldest was 8 yrs and not 3 like Madeleine.
I simply can't understand the difference here. Both sets of children came to harm because their parents neglected their care, yet one set is imprisoned and the other is jet setting around the world on his own crusade.

He has acted as the victim in all of this from the start, he really does not realise that he has done wrong. I think the time has come to employ a private investigator and even if the money is all used up at least then they would be trying to find Madeleine. Nothing else is working.

He would not sympathise or donate. Has the fund reached 1 million yet? If the ribbons have been taken down has the object of the exercise been achieved? So, some of the family are moving on - Gerry is still on a roll though!

you state you would focus your energy on finding your child. at what lengths would you go to?
maybe given the chance you would travel the world to highlight your much loved child's disappearance.
with regards to the mccann fund, contributions are voluntary, this issue is high profile, no-one is misguided into donating!I'm more concerned that my taxes ie: my money, involuntary, is being given to layabouts scrounging from the benefits system, no doubt sitting at a computer all day, paid for by taxpayers, spouting rubbish on topics they have no clue about, assumptions taken from 'Sun' newspaper. I'm assuming, of course that to be the case, just like you assume with regards to this subject.
enjoy your evening.

Like you, I think he would be judgemental. But unlike you (and I really do hope you will never feel the pain of losing your child), he's had to learn a hard and bitter lesson.
You just don't know how you will react and behave in such times.

D'yu know what you've just said???!
You've just admitted that Gerry would react in the exactly same manner as you so vociferously have!
Perhaps you 2 are star twins?!
It would be cruel but true justice if he did just that...be as sympathetic to your cause as you have to his.
How can you state "we all know Gerry would have sit there"??
We all DONT' KNOW. You make these assumptions & coolly presume that everyone agrees with you...Not fair!

Of course you think he would act as you describe. That is how you are behaving and so you can't imagine anyone choosing the act differently. Some people can't put themselves in someone else's shoes, can you, dave?
The fact is that, because you don't know Gerry McCann, you don't know how he would react if he was an observer to a situation like this.
