Isn't this contradicting yourself in the one sentence?
Nick Carter, the editor, said: “A tiny minority of people seem to want to say nasty, spiteful and defamatory things. They are bombarding our site"
If they are such a minority, then surely you would hardly notice their messages amongst the 'millions' of messages of support the McCanns receieve.
Unless of course its all a lie, and the fact is there is a sizeable majority of criticism for the McCanns which is why they have had to ban people's comments because its too much work for them to sift through what may be liebelous and what is not.
Because Im pretty sure that when people are sending a message to the Leicester Mercury, they arent sending a message then writing another message and sending it. Then writing another one ......... and so on.
I think Nick Carter needs to question why he is being 'bombarded' by criticism and think to himself that maybe, just maybe, people are sick of the sycophantic media in this country.

Beast - It must be the best paid paper round in the world. According to official government statistics median full-time weekly earnings in London were £572. I can assure you I get paid more than that ;) Not bad for a paperboy huh lol.

team maccann are well aware that there are millions of people who condemn their actions, quiet rightly so, and for any news paper to say otherwise, who make that a paper not worth buying, simply because people who buy news papers, want to read what is the truth.
if you select any group of ten people at random, and put a point to them, the majority or replies would be a good indication of how the general public are thinking.
now look at the thumbs up my answer gor and the thumb down it got, 6 to 1, so we can see the size of the minority that nick carter is speaking about, the people have spoken, nick

There are perhaps up to twenty people who like you persistently ask variations of the same question, all are intended as an attack on a family that have had a child abducted.
It is hard to imagine a more cruel and vicious and yes, evil thing to do, or more evil people such as yourself, apart from the person or persons that actually carried out the abduction.
Yes is is possible for a small minority to bombard others, this site is proof of it.
You yourself and the other anti-McCann creeps should be deeply ashamed of yourselves for the mean, spiteful campaign you have mounted.
Oban ***** whatever:
As usual you have twisted the facts to suit your yourself.
You give the impression that the McCanns were on the other side of town when in fact the truth is that they were just a few yards away from their children who they checked regularly.
Those are the facts, anything else is pure conjecture on your behalf.
I do believe that what you and others, not all I admit, is an act of evil, by evil minds.

What you say makes sense, Dave.
I have noticed that the critisism is gaining more airtime and newsprint (recent Daily Express headlines), thus ensuring that more will start to question the motives of the McCanns.
I think it is wrong for the Leicester Mercury to effectively censor it's readership, just because they don't like the responses. The truth sometimes hurts.

If the tiny minority become obsessed, yes they can become vocal and bombard a site.
It was easy to see here in our village, where the local Jewish community wanted to erect poles and wires to support their belief. Most of us think it is hocus-pocus but can't be bothered to write in to the paper in case we are accused of anti-semitism.
Unlike the good Jewish brothers (about 10) who bombarded the local paper. Every week.
It's a similar thing here. If you support the McCanns in their distress you ae accused of supporting child neglect and your parenting skills are called into question.. So few people will stick their heads above the barricade. While those who are obsessive about it, are on a mission.

nothing i can add to your question, except for a comment to barry g
this is a cruel, vicious and evil act?
what terminology would you therefore apply to leaving three children , all under the age of four, alone in the dark in a strange country, whilst you went off and enjoyed yourself?
personally i feel that posting a question about a newspaper website comes a lot higher up the moral scale than that

A tiny majority can bombard if they are very vocal.
Most of the laws and policies in this country are shaped by the views of minority pressure groups.
A child in a family is in the minority, but if they nag enough they generally get what they want.

Good Morning Dave..Good question...Surely Surely the British media are going to have to wake up soon...I think Mike from http://ionglobaltrends.blogspot.com/ will be having something to say about Nick Carter from the Leicester Mercury....The trickle of disapproval is gradually turning into a torrent..the only thing that amazes me is that there are still people willing to defend the Mc Grubs...I'm just guessing these people dont get out much.
Keep up the good work...

for once in my life I'm a minority,i think I'll celebrate hip hip hooooooray!the mccanns should be criticised, they neglected their children which led to one of them going missing.and to all the mcfans.they didn't leave them once they left them every night.easy for a peado watcher to pick a target.then they expect the whole world to donate and jump on the band waggon of fame.when all along the most important person in all of this is put on the back shelf because daddy needs to travel.why with the resources we have today ie;the internet, and telephone does he find the need to travel he can speak to the world from his living room.
