With Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch being lied about to this extent and the FBI lying.what has our country been reduced to?
Yet they expect (provide marks on reviews annually/semi annually) their soldiers to be honest and have integrity...we expect the same from our President? WHY??
U.S. must pay $101.7 million to men framed by FBI

-Also Tuesday, former Pfc. Jessica Lynch told the House panel that the military lied about her capture.

Not very many people were ever the honest types to begin with. Is America becoming less and less honest? Absolutely.
We 're being taught to be dishonest. That the only way to get ahead in life is to cut corners; take the credit for others hard work; and to deploy deception whenever possible.
The American Dream encourages dishonesty. We're told
that there is no such thing as can't and that winning is everything. So what if you have to cheat in order to secure a victory, just get the job done. That's their motto.
I happen to still believe that honesty is always the best policy,
even when it's not to my best advantage.
You bring up a valid point and deserve to be recognized for your keen eye of observation. Best of luck.

Well, to be honest with you, I doubt it; and I think we can place the blame squarely on our elected officials who have been lying to us for decades:
* The feds have never satisfactorily explained the events that took place in Roswell, NM in 1947;
* The Warren Commission was a whitewash of the JFK assassination, the true facts of which have been sealed for 75 years, until 2038 - when most of us who witnessed it will be dead and gone;
* The U.S. military denied that U-2 spy planes were flying over the U.S.S.R. until Nikita Khrushchev shot one down and displayed it for all the world to see;
* Americans were told that U.S. battleships were 'attacked' in the Gulf of Tonkin, an out-and-out lie that stuck us in the middle of the Vietnam War;
* The U.S. government lied about the effects of Agent Orange on Vietnam veterans;
* The Nixon administration lied and lied and lied about a third-rate burglary in the Watergate Hotel until two young reporters finally brought out the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, which resulted in the resignation of a sitting U.S. President;
* Ronald Reagan lied about trading hostages for weapons until years later when the Iran-Contra affair was exposed;
* Bill Clinton lied to Congress about some shady real estate deals and an adulterous liaison with another consenting adult, resulting in taxpayers' money being squandered on an 'investigation' of useless effort;
* The Bush administration has lied about "weapons of mass destruction"; torture and sexual abuse of 'detainees'; attorneys general firings; 'terrorist attacks'; secret CIA prisons; and the real reasons why we're fighting an unconstitutional, illegal, unjustifiable, immoral 'war' against another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States.
Is anybody in this country really honest anymore??

I guess it all started when Clinton lied to the whole country about something as minute as sleeping with a woman in the oval office.
I think the government would have a lot more credibility if they just came out with the truth right away....instead of trying to sweep things under the rug until it grows into a really big problem.

Once again you're talking about things that made the news. They made the news because they deviate from the norm. I believe most people are basically honest. I meet good, honest people every day. No one is 100% honest or 100% dishonest. After all, you're talking about millions of people.

I think everyone is only honest to the extent that they can still win the argument.
And, umm, that does seem to be what it's all about these days. winning the argument.
