How is the government handling this? How widespread is it compared to the flooding from Katrina?
I hope that everything works out better for the UK than it has for our Gulf Coast.

Our government is pledging inadequate amounts of cash - as usual they can't get anything right.
Very few people have been killed thank god, and there is comparatively little property damage i.e we have more stone and brick houses which stand up better than wooden ones. Some mobile home parks have been wiped out.
The river near me in Oxfordshire rose about 8 ft. The fire brigade had to evacuate an old peoples home nearby, taking people away in boats.
There has been nothing serious enough that will destroy neighbourhoods permanently.
But people need to think very carefully about buying houses built on flood plains in the future.

Look on youtube - there are lots of postings.
This is a mess - Katrina was a tragedy on a vast scale. Not much comfort to someone who has just lost everything though.
