Why the hell is everyone worying about how much publicity the mccanns are getting shouldnt you be getting on with your own lives? do you live a sad life or what? This ist about the parents this is about a little 4 year old girl that needs her mum and dad and family, yes i agree it was irresponsible but why the hell can you not let them get on with it?? do you feel that because its never happened to you you can rip them to shreds on here?? i think its pathetic. If the publicity bothers you then dont watch the telly or read the papers!!! It seems your life must be so sad to cut into other peoples. You say about all these other kids that go missing that the media never picks up on them? They are the ones that have run with the wind on this one. Would you, if your child went missing, say to the press no no I dont want any coverage just leave us to find her in the whole of europe on our own? I think not ....

Its statements like these that just make me think, How stupid an idiotic can us americans become? Rosie O' Donnell is a comedian so it is only right that everyone who reads this statement laughs at this, I mean really how low can one person go, she basically called our "American" troops terrorists, It sickens me to think that their are actually people who think like this in this country, And for you out their that supporst Rosie and thinks she meant something else by this statement, are all as silly and insignifigant as her.

China has discovered huge gas reserves in the southwestern province of Sichuan, hoping that the find will help ease growing concerns about energy security, state media reported Monday.

A total of 3.8 trillion cubic metres (133 trillion cubic feet) of natural gas deposits have been found in the western part of the Sichuan Basin, the China Daily said, citing officials in Dazhou city, near the reserve.

The discovery is equivalent to about 60 years of China's total production at current output levels.

The oil field is the largest discovery in the country in more than four decades, with expected reserves reaching one billion tonnes or about 7.35 billion barrels.

....I'm sure our government is salivating (and planning).

She has already stated that she only saw the man from behind.

Now if you are carrying a child, particularly one that is limp (ie not kicking and screaming) , would you not carry it in your arms in front of you?

So if your back is to someone and you are craddling a child in front of you, then it seems to me that this witness must have had X Ray eyes to be so sure that he was carrying Madeleine, when she presumably couldnt really see anything.

And if the police didnt think it was significant enough to chase up then why didnt the McCanns mention this sighting in any of their press conferences. I hardly think they have had a 3 week battle with the Portugese authorities over this information particularly as the Portugese basically took a statement and then allowed the woman to fly home without following up the lead.

Now all of a sudden it was DEFINITELY Maddie. How does that work?

Just looking through a Portugese newspaper online and it poses the question:

"Justifica-se a recepção do casal McCann por parte do Papa Bento XVI, já que em nenhum outro caso de crianças desaparecidas isso sucedeu?"
[ Is there justification for the McCann couple being received by the Blessed Pope XVI, since this has never occurred in any other cases where children have disapperared"..?]

Poll so far:

Sim/ Yes - 20.5%
Não/No - 65.22%
Nã sei - Don't know - 9.32%
Talvez - Perhaps - 4.97%

Oh the McCann camp forseee a trip to Madrid on Friday and Berlin next Monday:
"para sexta-feira têm prevista uma viagem a Madrid, e na segunda-feira para Berlim"

... because it is highly likely she is going to be in these places isn't it!!!

Increasing pain at the gas pumps is pushing up the cost of road trips. But according to the CAA, boycotting stations won't affect the price. So with the loonie on the rise, is a jaunt to a US destination the way to spend holidays this summer?

In a move sure to raise even more questions about the decision to go to war with Iraq, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence will on Friday release selected portions of pre-war intelligence in which the CIA warned the administration of the risk and consequences of a conflict in the Middle East.
Among other things, the 40-page Senate report reveals that two intelligence assessments before the war accurately predicted that toppling Saddam could lead to a dangerous period of internal violence and provide a boost to terrorists. But those warnings were seemingly ignored......
“The United States will face negative consequences with Iraq, the region and beyond which would include:

Anarchy and the territorial breakup of Iraq;
Region-threatening instability in key Arab states;
A surge of global terrorism against US interests fueled by (militant) Islamism;
Major oil supply disruptions

Although it feels wrong, I cannot help but blame the parents and as time goes on, I am actually becoming angry at their actions. I realise that I may not know all the facts and so I am hoping that fellow members can verify these for me.
Is the company which has been set up to collect money a charity or not? Are the Mccanns able to spend this money at will? Are they using this money to subsidise their income whilst they are not working? Do the Mccanns campaign for donations or just accept what is offered? What will become of unused funds? Are they donating any of this money to other charities or using it to help find other missing children?
It seems to me that they are appealing for a nation of people who are on average worse off, to fund their trips across Europe and to The Vatican, which will do nothing to find Maddie, even though they were to blame. This is unprecedented even amongst parents who have lost children through no fault of their own. Also, why no punishment for neglect.

This is just a random though that popped into my head and no I havent been drinking ;)

This whole case has had a very 'religious' theme around it. Ever since she was kidnapped, the place we see the McCanns the most are in their their church. This takes priority over even looking for Madeleine.

Then a few weeks into the disappearance they make a trip to Fatima one of the holiest places in Portugal and of course along with that comes the whole media entourage.

Now its revealed they are going one step further and meeting the Pope.

I mean this whole disappearance has been great advertising for the Catholic faith with the amount of exposure its gotten.

Now what if after meeting the Pope, Madeliene suddenly makes an appearance. It would be a 'miracle'! A miracle brought about by their faith.

What Im saying is wouldnt it be funny if this was just some MAJOR religious hoax to get people to believe in the power of prayer and of christ?

p.s I have just finished watching the Da Vinci code

Do you think a devoutly Catholic GP or surgeon, for example, can give you the best care? There are many articles which indicate that devoutly religious doctors are far less effective/medically ethical than their more secular counterparts.

Seriously, what the hell is up with all this coverage the case is getting? Children go missing every day, so why should one specific case get all the attention? And the outpouring of grief from everyone is sickening. Get over it. You don't know her, or her family. Get a life. There's much more important issues in the world. Stop jumping on bandwagons and think for yourself.

I have heard so many conflicting stories so far about the McCanns.First she said she checked every half hour then changed her story to 8.30,9pm and 10pm, the patio door was locked then it was left unlocked,They said they phoned at 11.50 to the police then it was 10,10pm .Then the hotel manager said he phoned and not them.
She said she found her missing, then it was the 4 of them that went back to find her gone. even though she said she ran back to the restaurant to tell eveyone. The waiting staff at the restaurant said nobody left the table that evening.
Am I confused or what and why didn`t they just tell the truth in the first place to aid the police in finding the child.
What is going on here.???
Is there a conspiracy , lies or misplaced memories? or are they covering something up.?
Can someone tell me please?

Have just seen the latest photo of Maddie, playing near with her daddy & brother & sister.

Will someone please help out my stupid, confused, idiotic head here?

Why THAT photo? Am I missing something? You cant see the face of Maddie, are we meant to be looking at the people in the background? Her clothes? Her daddy?

Please tell me its just me that is finding this all going a bit weird around the corners.......................

regarding the maddie mccann case?
when this first happened, i was standing up for the mccanns all the time, even getting into arguements with people , saying how i beleieved they made a bad decision (look at my previous questions and answers)
however now i am well and truly baffled, and annoyed that this little girl is getting soooo much attention, dont get me wrong, it is very sad, and god i hope she is found safe, but what about all the other kids that are missing? they dont generate this kind of publicity, is this a case of "money talks"??
her parents are beggining to seriously grate on me too, i mean if it was me right now i believe i would be heavily sedated somewhere, i wouldnt be coping at all.
so yes i have changed my mind, its not often i do but i have, has anyone else?

Incident reported today in Yahoo news. Unfortunaetly exactly the same thing happened in Afganistan when fundamentalist Muslims invaded. Why does the Quran condone human rights abuses, especially of women and non-muslims, who they call Infidels.
