China has discovered huge gas reserves in the southwestern province of Sichuan, hoping that the find will help ease growing concerns about energy security, state media reported Monday.

A total of 3.8 trillion cubic metres (133 trillion cubic feet) of natural gas deposits have been found in the western part of the Sichuan Basin, the China Daily said, citing officials in Dazhou city, near the reserve.

The discovery is equivalent to about 60 years of China's total production at current output levels.

The oil field is the largest discovery in the country in more than four decades, with expected reserves reaching one billion tonnes or about 7.35 billion barrels.

....I'm sure our government is salivating (and planning).

Whoaaaa.

Who are you to tell another American to move?
What happened to freedom to speak and have an opinion?

I am sorry to burst your bubble but folks in other countries do not think the American military is the savior of the underdog. I lived in Europe on and off over many years and have heard and seen how people over there react to the US presence. I have observed Americans sporting Canadian and Australian flags on their clothing so they can hide their identities in public.

I have a lot of respect for what soldiers do and the sacrifices they make but the government that sends them there has more in the agenda than lending a helping hand. There is always another motive lurking underneath. Surely you can't be so naive not to see it.

IF the US gov't was bent on helping the underdogs, where were they when the genocide of the Tutsi occurred? They did nada. Why? There was no oil. No profit. Yet half a million Tutsi were slaughtered amid pleas to the US to help.

Enough said. I agree with Asker. I'm sure the US gov't has its beady eyes set on another prize. What will be interesting is the humanitarian motive it comes up with to mask its true intent.

Oh man... The person who told the person the leave the US because the original poster has an obvious problem with American foregn policy: Get off it...... Whiney baby bullcrap. You really shouldn't support everything your govenment does just because you are from the same country. If that is what you what, maybe you should be the one who moves. China might work for you. Free speech isn't encouraged there.

Since you are referring to it as "our" government, I am deducting you are from the U.S.

So here, if you have a problem with the U.S.

MOVE.

The US does so much to help other countries. They help the innocent in those countries. We generally help the underdog. Often times these countries only look the gift ourse in the mouth. I am sure that these countries would love to have you. So get out!

Have you talked to a soldier that has been to Iraq recently. Do you know how many times they tell of the people who thank them and the people who know what our soldiers have given up to help the innocent.

People are taking risks to get here every day. I am sure they would love to have your seat.

you may be on to something. Since China owns most of the US's outstanding national debt. attacking them may be the only way we might survive, but since the country has more people there- that speak and understand the English language= than live within the Continental USA, I doubt it.

This is similar to the Japanese thought that predated WW11

oh great another way for china to improve thier already thriving economy, now back to subject, if you dont like our government move, you have no idea how much our government is doing for its citizens and to think our country would attack a country for oil is a really stupid question.

Why would we when we have huge oil and gas reserves of our own? If we need to attack anyone, it's the liberals who refuse to let us access our own resources.
