I have heard so many conflicting stories so far about the McCanns.First she said she checked every half hour then changed her story to 8.30,9pm and 10pm, the patio door was locked then it was left unlocked,They said they phoned at 11.50 to the police then it was 10,10pm .Then the hotel manager said he phoned and not them.
She said she found her missing, then it was the 4 of them that went back to find her gone. even though she said she ran back to the restaurant to tell eveyone. The waiting staff at the restaurant said nobody left the table that evening.
Am I confused or what and why didn`t they just tell the truth in the first place to aid the police in finding the child.
What is going on here.???
Is there a conspiracy , lies or misplaced memories? or are they covering something up.?
Can someone tell me please?

I have read all these conflicting stories in the Broadsheet newspapers and it just seams that conflicting stories given by the McCanns change on a daily basis

I think the problem is, the press are not employing investigative journalists. They are being fed "information" by the McCann family, and the information is incorrect (I believe some of it is deliberately incorrect - not to mislead the police, but to mislead the public - like the myth started by Phil McCann that the apartment was broken into and window shutters tampered with). Team McCann is trying to damp down any criticism of the parents by stating definitively that Maddie was snatched from her bed by someone who broke in, when it is more likely that she wandered out of the apartment through the unlocked doors (perhaps lured out by someone). I also think the half-hour checks are a lie, because the first recollection I read was of one of the people the McCanns were having dinner with, who said that they were at the table at 8pm, and Gerry McCann left the table once, at 9pm, saying he was going to check on the children. The McCanns obviously feel that if the public was aware of the exact circumstances, they would have far less support and sympathy.

I don't know. But I know there's something that raises my suspicions every time I hear about it.

It seems odd that someone would take Madeleine but not the other two. Being that much older than the twins she'd be able to vocalise and scream as she'd be aware of "stranger danger".

Also, what decent parent goes out and leaves their children, with the door open or not, for a couple of hours while they eat a meal??? In a place that's renowned for its childcare!!! I'm sure everyone remembers those other two children that died from carbon monoxide poisoning, while their parents were in the next room!!!

I'm sorry, but I don't feel that it adds up. There's something going on that we don't know about.

And surely their time would be better spent searching for the poor mite rather than having an audience with the Pope? They don't seem to be doing much in the way of searching. If she was my child, I'd be absolutely frantic, searching the country myself.

Very odd.

One thing is sure - the British police would have questioned every single person in the complex. They would have the timelines for 'checking' the children - and they would also know who last checked on the children prior to the abduction having been discovered.
Something is very odd about this - and it's hard to say exactly what or why.
There was an interview with Ben Needham's mother - and she was visibly more upset talking about her son and Madeleine that the McCann parents or any of the people who have seen fit to comment.

Some of the conflicting information could be due to journalists reporting incorrect details or even making stuff up just to fill the column inches. Don't go believing everything you read or hear, after all this is the press we're talking about.

As for what really happened. Who knows? We'll probably never find out the full truth.

What I really want to know is, if Mrs McCann ran back to the restaurant to alert everyone - did she take the twins with her? or after seeing Madeleine had gone, did she leave them there whilst she ran back?

I know it doesn't alter the facts as they are now, but I am curious about that!

Some good points made here, I hadn't even thought of that!
When Kate McCann ran back to raise the alarm Madeleine was missing, what? she left the twins...
I suppose she must have. They are very lucky not to have lost the three of them.
Never mind, plenty more where they came from, they've probably got another dozen frozen embros spare.
Not a sign of anguish on their hard faces, they make me sick.

There are two stories banded around, the first one says both Kate and Gerry returned at 21.45 and found she'd gone. The second one says Kate checked and found her gone, then she went running back to the restaurant? Beats me too.

The basic truth as far as I can see is they left a small child on her own (or with two smaller children) in a strange country and did so every night they were there. Checking every half hour or hour makes no difference in those circumstances. I hate to be unsupportive but...

Whatever else is happening, it's going to be bad news for religion isn't it? Now that the McCanns have got an audience with the Pope, what are all the religious merchants going to say when nothing comes of it? - I mean - an audience with the head man of religion and STILL no action from above - what's the excuse going to be this time ! ! !
