This is just a random though that popped into my head and no I havent been drinking ;)
This whole case has had a very 'religious' theme around it. Ever since she was kidnapped, the place we see the McCanns the most are in their their church. This takes priority over even looking for Madeleine.
Then a few weeks into the disappearance they make a trip to Fatima one of the holiest places in Portugal and of course along with that comes the whole media entourage.
Now its revealed they are going one step further and meeting the Pope.
I mean this whole disappearance has been great advertising for the Catholic faith with the amount of exposure its gotten.
Now what if after meeting the Pope, Madeliene suddenly makes an appearance. It would be a 'miracle'! A miracle brought about by their faith.
What Im saying is wouldnt it be funny if this was just some MAJOR religious hoax to get people to believe in the power of prayer and of christ?

Its a bit light on news about the McCanns today. Must be because the McCanns are so excited about seeing the Pope they forgot about finding Maddy today.

Very sorry for the little girl.
I have a thought that the parents know whats happened and using the media/church to turn attention away from themselves,just a thought ,but its happened before

If Madeline is found safe and sound and returned home to her family I do not care if they have to talk with all the religious leaders of the world! Remember:
Madeline - four year old girl - abducted -duh!
Some of you really need to take a close look at yourselves and ask why you are being so negative towards this family!
I just hope she is found safe and soon.
Along with all the other children who are abducted every year, most of whom are found within the first month!

Anti Mc Cann comment is based on envy perhaps inferiority is a better word, just shows don't be smart and attractive and have a misfortune for if you do envious worms will come out from under the stones and make cynical comments
I have just realised they are Doctors, this explains a lot , people envy successful doctors hence the vile anti McCann comment

In all seriousness, I think any true Catholic will be as disgusted with their behaviour as we are and certainly won't want them as a testament to their faith.

And Dan i think you are close, but its Gerry who is the heir of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Would explain all his phenomenal influence, and remember the story about the Holy Grail and scotland?

People of all denominations are praying for her safe return so it could not be attributed to any one religion. Don't people realise that, if you have a faith, it is in your most troubled times that you get support from it? If you are not religious you will have no understanding of this and it's pointless trying to rationalise it. Maybe you think the Pope kidnapped her, da Vinci code style? Would certainly fit in with your present mode of thinking.

I don't think they are seeing him for that reason, I personally think they are going for yet another confession with a view to totally exhonerating themselves of any blame for their neglectful behaviour.
