Why the hell is everyone worying about how much publicity the mccanns are getting shouldnt you be getting on with your own lives? do you live a sad life or what? This ist about the parents this is about a little 4 year old girl that needs her mum and dad and family, yes i agree it was irresponsible but why the hell can you not let them get on with it?? do you feel that because its never happened to you you can rip them to shreds on here?? i think its pathetic. If the publicity bothers you then dont watch the telly or read the papers!!! It seems your life must be so sad to cut into other peoples. You say about all these other kids that go missing that the media never picks up on them? They are the ones that have run with the wind on this one. Would you, if your child went missing, say to the press no no I dont want any coverage just leave us to find her in the whole of europe on our own? I think not ....

Just for all of your info: do you think its the McCanns that instigate when they are in the media, when they are on telly? No its not its the media bosses and do you think they would put it in if they thought they would lose money over it? No they wouldnt, so going on those statistics these small-minded people on here that can only criticise must be a very small minority because the rest of the country are praying for Maddie's safe return not criticise the parents for every little thing like not crying in front of the telly? some people have evenchecked back and are interested in the date they qualified i mean what a waste of time??? To be honest its not tyhe media thats making them famous its all of you on here that cant seem to let it go, and let them getting on with looking for their baby

Your are a hypocrite ...why dont you switch of YA if it bothers you so much!

There are also People who are justifying what they did because there are comparisons like if I have dinner in the garded what would happen to my kids?

How on earth people can compare the fact they left three very small children alone in the apartment which is no denying and go out for a meal and have your child abducted whilst the parents are away for the whole hour in a like for like mentality I dont know...

The point is that most parents do think that putting their kids to bed and then going out to the pub for a drink for an hour is not a good idea because if anything DID happen to the children they would not be their to help them which is why there is usually an adult mind around....

Lets just face facts they did not want to leave their kids with foreigners....and if these people did talk to these foreigners they may have seen the light that they are capable of looking after children...and can be trusted... the McCanns are lucky if it was a gang they didnt take all three children out! Perish the thought !

WHERE'S THE NANNY?! Why hasn't the British government allowed the Portuguese police to interview her?

From the London Standard:

There, according to local police, the couples enjoyed "long dinners", checking on their children every 30 minutes (now revealed to be untrue).

It was part of a routine established by the McCanns and their friends from the first day of their sunshine break.

Until now, it had been widely believed that the abduction of Madeleine came on the one night that the McCanns had left their children alone.

But Mr McCann's sister, Patricia, a 47-year- old nurse from Glasgow, revealed: "There were eight of them there, all with kids, and every night they went out for a meal without them.

"It was less than 40 yards away (now revealed to be untrue) and they were all meticulous in checking them (now revealed to be untrue), it was just part of the routine.

"They felt it was better than leaving them with a babysitter as you don't know who you are going to get with a stranger (although they did leave them at the kids club all day every day in the care of - you guessed it - babysitters)."

Madeleine's grandmother, Eileen McCann, 67, added: "They weren't sure about the babysitter service, they just don't like leaving them with strangers."

"It wasn't something they did very often - they have a nanny at home whom they trust."

PS: For those of you who say "Leave them alone, nobody knows what it feels like", I know what it feels like, my sister's children were abducted. We did not pass out yellow ribbons or call up celebrities or ask people to give us money to jet around the world...we hired a private investigator, who found the children in under two weeks - luckily, just before the kids were just about to be ferretted across an international border! My poor sister was crazy with grief but she did what was practical and necessary - and had the police and the PI working in concert (the PI didn't have the jurisdictional issues, nor the lack of resources, nor thousands of other missing kids to track down like local and national police and agencies do). If the McCanns want to find their daughter, then let them put their money (oh, I guess it's actually OUR money??) where their mouths are: HIRE A P.I.!!

i think you are right, i know of a person who was kidnapped when he was a baby and thanks to the local paper he was found, the national press publish just some small article for one or two day without much information. Now, luckily he was taken by a local woman because the publicity never reach outside the baby hometown. i think you all see my point, i do believe that it has become a media circus but that it's nothing new, from Diana to Jade on Big Brother when press and public opinion join forces the result is always this media circus and most of the time the real or main reason for it become almost secondary, everyone seem to get a kind of fever and feel the right to exploit the issue anyway they can, dint get me wrong, i myself here feeding this frenzy, but at least i try to don't be hypocrite.

it is because of all the inconsistencies from the mouths of the McCanns
firstly she said she went back every half hour then changes her story to 8.30 9pm and 10pm
then she changed her story to 8.30 9pm and 9,45pm
then the restaurant staff said that nobody left the table that evening.
then she says she found the locked door broken into and the girl gone and went back to the restaurant to report this to her husband
then she said the door was never locked
she said "they have taken her" not he, she or she has gone missing but "They"
then they said that they all left the table at the same time and all went back to the hotel and then found her missing
then they said they phoned the police at 11,50pm changed it to 10.10pm and then the hotel manager said HE phoned the police at 11.50 and not the McCanns.
These are all reported in the national papers.
They have done precious little searching and plenty of PR work.
People don't like being lied to to get sympathy
We don`t lead petty pointless lives .what`s wrong in the pursuit of the truth.
You must have something against the truth and would rather be lied to by two doctors.

The reason that a lot of people don't have much sympathy for them is that they left 3 children under 4 alone, most parents i know find that very hard to fathom, and yes i have kids. If you have young kids and you go on holiday, you get a villa so you don't have to leave them or you use the babysitting service, or you just except that you eat early with the kids, grab a bottle of wine and spend the evening on the balcony, you don't go out and leave them, not because they may be snatched but because they might wake up feeling poorly and 40 minutes is an eternity for a sick child to be crying for her mummy. Don't get me wrong, of course i feel sorry for them, it's the worst thing you can imagine happening to a parent and i hope that they find that poor frightened little girl safe and well, but the fact remains, that this wouldn't have happened if they had been there looking after their kids and that's why people are being catty.

if they wanted to be left alone to 'get on with it' then they wouldnt need all this media hype and attention - the overkill is just making people fed up of seeing them 24/7 on the news.

Ah, so the 'media' are going to find her! tell you what I bet they don't! my money would be on one of the dedicated, hard working police officers, of one of the international police forces finding her! - the ' media 'haven't got time, they'll be flying off with the McCanns and covering their fruitless meeting with the Pope!

its some sort of mass hysteria on here. i cant understand the nastiness, the vindictiveness of the people slagging the McCanns.its even spread to the animal section. they should take a step back and look at their reasoning. i saw 3 small children standing by a car today while mum went back to the house to get something. they were alone. OMG should i have called the police to get mum locked up? the lynch mob is getting very worrying. the noose will be up soon.

Yes - let's just leave them alone to be irresponsible, tell their lies, ask the people of UK to finance their World Tour, be cold, arrogant, etc...

But wait a minute - you don't seem to realise. The McCanns WANT us to worry about how much publicity they're getting. That's their whole driver.

Maybe you should tell THEM it's not about them - it should be about their missing child. It's THEM who seem to have forgotten that
