I have cockroaches coming from my neighbours', all well fed and glistening. I bought Raid, it had four traps and one thingy, supposedly a birth control. It does not help at all. I saw with my own eyes one running through the "trap", as merry as a whistle, and I saw younger generation as well, so that birth control does not work either. What should I now do?

why does this happen? I am sure it's causing our ceilings to crack but could it cause more damage. There is one lorry that goes past at 5am and my bed actually shakes. The council say there is nothing they can do. Who is liable if there is any damage?

I have a driveway that comes from the street wraps around in front of our house, then connects back to the end of the driveway into the street. I drive in, go around in a circle then connect back to the driveway to go out into the street. My neighbor has a driveway that connects from the street, goes along the side of their house, back into the front of a large garage (that they don't use), but ALSO connects to our driveway so it creates a U shape back into the street. Basically I have a wraparound driveway, they don't, but because of a little section that connects the two, they think they do. They are using it to get back into the street instead of their own driveway. It snowed recently and I shoveled some snow on that connection to tell them to stop using our driveway, but they drove around it and into our section of yard that separates our houses. They plowed their driveway but stopped at the connection where they meet our driveway. But they still used our driveway. Help.

I am well aware I can buy a duster to take care of dust after it has fallen all over my furniture, but how can I combat dust before it ever falls, like while it's in the air? I live near an interstate, which makes things extra dusty. Or is it possible to basically prevent dust in my home?

I run a humidifier in my home, does that help the dust situation?

I live in michigan, I just bought my first pellet stove, a Breckwell Big-E. It seems to be kicking out the heat fine, I'm very happy with it. My question is, right now pellets are $4 a bag roughly in the begining of December, when you buy them in the summer, by the ton, how much are they then?

I've heard that regular mattresses have flame retardants that are bad for you, and wool ones don't. Does it really matter?

This is a small cottage (aka shanty) that has been added onto twice before I moved in. The floors are uneven. The whole place is approximately 600 square feet. I need it to be at least 3 feet off the ground, if not four. What is the best way to handle this? I do not plan on doing this myself.

My neighbour has this neat little power snow shovel (not quite a snow blower). It's hand-held, like a weed wacker - actually sounds like one too. I can find electric ones, but don't want a cord. It's quite powerful. Any ideas what it might be?

A friend of mine just callled me and said that he left a candle burning at work at 5pm. It's a fairly large candle in a glass holder. The glass has a small crack at the bottom. It's been burning for about 14 hours. He is worried that it will burn his building down because of the crack. What are the odds of this happening? THanks!

I'm in the process of replacing a major kitchen appliance and wondered when most retailers had their best "sale specials." Is before Christmas, after Christmas, or after New Year the best time to buy? This probably would best be answered by someone with experience in the retail appliance business or a purchaser for new homes or rental units.
