We moved our en-suite around and as a result the hot tap supply doesn't run anymore. It did do before, and we have no leaks or disconnections, the water is in the pipe. But it is as if there is not enough pressure there. the basin has only moved 1' to the left and the pipe hasn't been extended. Why would this happen?
Any ideas? thanks!

I live in Chicago and I'm traveling for the next three months. I was wondering what I should set the heat at so that I'm not paying a ridiculous heating bill every month but I don't want to cause any damage to the eletrical stuff in the house or the plumbing.

I am looking for a mail order catalogue that is like Lillian Vernon, but I can't remember what it is called. There were several gifts in it that I wanted to get for Christmas, but I can't remember what the catalogue was called!

So does anyone know of any other catalogues like Lillian Vernon? The kind that carry a little bit of everything?

I am planning to move into an old house recently that has no central heat and air and no propane heaters in it. From what I have read online kerosene heater would seem like the better choice for me despite the cons of them. The 2 rooms are about about 180 sq. ft. The other two are like 100 sq. ft. The electric heaters I have bought have not been putting out enough heat and the oil filled radiator I had bought seemed like it did not get hot fast ehough. help please.

The house is about 8 years old and this loud droning noise started approx one week ago. Have been trawling though internet and everything I found on attic tank related to overflow (not our problem) or clanging pipes (again not the problem). This drone sounds like an airplane flying overhead and can last for up to four or five hours after the toilet has been flushed. Last night it was still droning at 5 a.m.!!! Am shattered!

I heard stories on people urinating on small trees and it dies and big trees it flourish. Is it because it is too much for small trees that the small tree dies. I mean fresh urine not added with water. Those diluted ones added with water is fine.

I'm interested in buying a couple of Tupperware tumblers like those pictured in the link below - including the lids. Searching around, all I can find are the white ones with various sports icons imprinted on the side. I would rather find ones that are solid colors - specifically dark green or dark blue.

Let me know if you can help me out.

I have been struggling with different cutting boards for awhile now. I wanted to get a Corian cutting board because it is largely non-porous, until it occurred to me that over time even Corian can scratch, and therefore may be a home for bacteria. I tried to find tempered glass, thinking it was the safest bet, but in desperation settled for wood (bamboo). IN a short time, my wood began to smell like onions and a sponge, despite many thorough washings and baking it. Every food that touches the board even briefly reeks. Nonetheless I heard that wood is as safe as plastic from bacteria, and that glass (and even Corian) will dull the knives.
So what am I missing? Is there a type cutting board that
1) is reasonably safe for knives
2) is sanitary
3) doesn't stink like the food that was cooked on it
4) results in minimal surface wear
If not, what would be the best thing?

I've recently been using table salt on a window which has been covered in ants. This technique works and lately I haven't seen any ants around the window at all.

However, lately the windowsill has become very wet. It's been humid here lately and all I can think of is that the salt has absorbed the moisture in the air? Is this possible and would it cause the windowsill to become quite wet?

I hired a contractor recommended by Service Magic. He had a 5-star rating. Maybe these projects were different than mine, but I was dissatisfied with some areas of his work.

First, he assured me that he personally supervised each job. However, to my knowledge, he wasn't on the job site while the actual work was in progress.

Secondly, he insisted that I pay 50% up front and make checks out to him personally rather than to his business.

Thirdly, the boards his workers replaced on the porch floor were warped and unevenly cut.

Fourth, a wire fence between my yard and the neighbors was trashed. I only know it wasn't like that before they were there.

Fifth, he didn't leave me a copy of the contract. When I contacted the contractor by e-mail, he said he'd mail it to me, but I haven't received it yet.

Sixth - there are boot prints in white paint all over my newly painted dark gray porch floor.

I plan to build a house on a field quite close to a future airport (5 km), and the field is oriented on the future flying path. I'm worried that the noise would be too loud when the airport will be functional. Can you say how far away is far enough in order to not be bothered by this? The airport will be quite big (it will serve a 300.000 inhabitants city). Thank you.
