Evacuate the premises, contact 911! It could be serious. The Fire department will come and take a reading of the area and contact the proper resources to correct the problem.

Are you talking gasoline or propane? If it is propane, open the windows and air the place out immediately...well I guess the same for gasoline. But you will want to check for leaks in your propane gas system, or wherever you may have gas lines.

If it is the car, it is probably just some gas spilled when you filled up last time on the outside of the car, or perhaps you could have a gas leak in the car, check underneath, and don't light any cigarettes or flamable material until you find the source. Good luck.

Isn't gas odorless?

Don't gas companies add something to it to produce the "gas smell?" If what you're smelling is "gas" then there is something wrong with a pipe somewhere and you should get out of dodge and call the gas company.

Leave the car where it is and just walk if you create a spark you'll get blown up. Don't turn on lights, cell phones ect.

If you have natural gas in the house for appliances and you smell a lot of gas, call the utility company now from a neighbors telephone and get everyone out now. Do not investigate ion your own. The power company is trained to handle it and could save the day, so to speak.

If you have gas service in your home, I would call the gas company to get an inspection. If no gas in the house, start checking the traps on drains. Especially if you have floor drains. Sewer gas can be as harmful as natural gas. Both are explosive.
