Roach Cookies
Roach Cookies:
1/2 cup boric acid
1/2 cup sugar
water
add water until it becomes a dough. put in muffin tins or on aluminum foil. the roaches will eat it, ingesting the boric acid which will kill them. Take the roach cookies that you have out & run water over them so that they are moist (about once a week). The roaches need water to stay alive so this help attract them to the cookies.
Good Luck, also drop the recipe off at your neighbors house....

I would make up some extra boric acid "cookies" and bring them to your neighbors and ask if they will put them out and take care of them. Tell them that you are trying to see if this will help with the roaches. Of course, tell them what's in it and maybe give them an article on boric acid. I don't think that this would be offending if you play innocent about your "experiment". I'm sure they would like to say bye-bye to those critters too. Boric acid is cheap. I have recently started using this, even for spiders, ants and all bugs. Since I put it out (dusting baseboards, etc.) there has been a large improvement. I used to have ants coming in from everywhere, so I found out about this and put it out where they were coming in at. I have not had any more ants since I started using it. They will not be resistant to boric acid because it works by burning there exoskeleton when they walk through the dust. Eating it would do the same thing. Look it up on-line for more information, it's worth it. Good Luck!

I thank the Gods I live in Ohio! I assume your in a southern state where you haven't good cold winters. These type of problems are easier to control up north. But, I 'did time' in Texas and understand living in apartments.
You need to 'seal' your home. Caulk every floor board and every where else critters can hide. Seal up areas around water pipes, toilets, and electric outlets (use your brains, not inside by wires, but around coverlet). Run caulking along all cupboard, tops and along the floor, sealing up the space between wood and flooring. Caulk is only the start.
Next clean up your pantry. Put everything in good containers with good lids. Try to put more in frig, coffee, sugar, flour etc. Don't leave anything out, not even the salt shaker.
Also putting sticky traps under stove and frig can help. You need to check and change often. Good Luck.

If we were talking about any other pests I may suggest some home remedies but cock roaches are extremely hard to get rid of. They are chemical resistant to many chemicals; OTC and commercial. The Raid and growth inhibitor are probably have nothing but a placebo effect on them. You really need to call a professional on this one. When you move you'll just take them with you so now is the time to address the problem.

I used to live in Florida and had a big roach and palmetto bug problem...until they invented the greatest thing ever "Combat". It killed every one of those stupid reproducing bugs. Put the Combat things everywhere...under cabinets, in the attic, in the garage, but keep them away from pets. You may not see immediate results, but keep the Combat there anyway and you will see dead roaches within a few weeks and soon they will be gone completely.

The guy with the "boric acid" idea is right. You just have to make sure you get the kind made for killing roaches. Roaches like it yet it kills them but they don't die right away. They carry it to their nests and kill their young, too. It's not advertised because it's so cheap nobody would ever get rich trying to sell it. Good luck.

Boric acid is very effective when used properly for killing cockroaches and most other insects. You can also get a house lizard, they are natural enemies and will eat them.

one of my fellow employees had the same problem....she went to looking around and actually found a nest in the back part of her refrigerator....she also was having the pest people come out every quarter....so you might want to do some searching and some extermination .....just make sure to keep things nice and tidy...good luck
