We have well water and about 3 years ago we put in a new hot water tank. Ever since then, we get a smell when we turn on the water. Like sulfur or rotten eggs. We heard that it had something to do with a part that is in the hot water tanks now to prevent corrosion and make them last longer, but I don't know if that's true or not. Any help or ideas wouldbe greatly appreciated. Thanks !!

I am thinking of buying a home that has the entrance to the cellar threw the floor in the bedroom. the problem is that the cellar is in bad shape. The walls are cracked and so there is seepage and when it rains there is 1-2 inches of water. It drys out quickly but concerned about mold getting in to the house. would it be better to just fill it with concrete or do something else. the cellar is in really bad shape!

The roof of my expansion on my house is almost two years old.
Can it support my weight (179 lbs.)? I like to just go out there and lay on the roof and chill. The roof is almost perfectly flat with a "slight" slant.

the roof will not cave in on me when i lay on it will it!? ***knocks on wood***

My leaf blower's motor stopped working the other day and causes the circuit breaker to trip every time I switch it on. It's a 1 HP AC Motor. I unassembled it and cleaned it since it was horribly dirty but that didn't solve the problem. There is a small board with the wires welded on to it right before the motor but I don't know what it is. It has like four tiny black cylinders and two orange round things. Could it be the problem, and can the motor run without it if I connected the motor wires straight to the plug?

My kids have moved out and since they have gone, I am a stickler about shutting off the lights, I only shower and wash my hair for about 5 minutes every day. My kids would literally run the water heater out. When I come home the lights are all out like I left them unless one of the kids come home while I am gone....they leave them all on. My son used to turn all the lights on in the house and the garage and I would wake up in the morning for work and they were all still on.
My laundry is minimal. I never dry my clothes in the dryer, and always hang them on the line.
Does it cost to leave the TV running, because I always fall asleep with the TV on?
Is it cheaper to leave the window air on or should I shut it off when I cool the house off?
How else can I cut down? I am worrying about the college tuition I just payed for my son and I am trying to cut way back.

I recently aquired an old home which i plan to remodel and make my main home. But, In the guest section of the home about 1000 square feet, the old tenants left quite a mess. There is trash everywhere, cans, food, rotten milk, maggots, pet feces etc...literally 2 feet high.I can not even walk in it,I think it has been closed up for about a year and it is quite nasty. So my question is,How do i go about getting it cleaned up? I don't think a regular maid service will do as their are several pieces of heavy furniture that need to be disposed of as well,Is there someone who specializes in this sort of thing? And what might it cost?

HELP

Thanks

I am thinking about buying a home that was built in 1925. There has been a addition to the home and some updating to the plumbing and electric, ch/a. Overall the home is in good repair and has been well taken care of, there are some cracks in the walls, but the home is 80 years old, so a little settling has occured. I would just like any info as to help me make a decision wether or not to buy this old of a home?

I'd like to purchase a pool house cabana and insulated it and bring it to code and make it like a very small house. Do you think if done right, I would be able to get the permits? The property is zoned as residential but no one for miles has built anything so I will have no neighbors and their property values to worry about.

What type of thing will be intailed to get this done properly. I am guessing I will need the building plans of the cabana then a licensed contractor to certify his own modifications to the original building plans to brign it up to code, thenh submit it for the permits. Am I correct on this. The property is in Florida.

And yes, I am fine with a small house.

It's just a little YardMan push mower with a 5HP Briggs & Stratton, it's a little over a year old and has always ran great. The last time I used it it died on me. If I push the primer bulb it will start again until it burns out that fuel, then it dies. When it's cold it will fire right up and then stall after about 5 or 10 minutes, but then you have to wait awhile before it will run again. I JUST changed the spark plug and the air filter thinking that might be the problem but it made no difference. It has a full tank of fresh fuel so I'm not sure what to check next. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I was looking up storage sheds and pool houses and got an idea. I have a property in a residential area. There is nothing built on it and most the other properties adjacent to it and in the area for blocks away are also not built.

I was thinking of purchasing a pool house type stucture. This is a link.

Now I am planning having it built, then add electric to it and drywall and finish it. Inside, it is most likely going to look like a one room house. I am going to build a small wall for a very small bathroom with shower room. I am not sure how I waqnt to do plumbing yet.

I contacted the county. This is an unincorporated area in Florida. I was told that it the struture was not permanently atached, it could not be taxed. So I may have it build on a trailer and they skirt it.

I have a small electric current coming into my pool light, just enough to feel like a 9 volt battery on your tongue. this occurs even when all power is shut down at the breaker box. Could this be from a tree touching a power line and grounding the current which my pool grounds maybe picking up? or maybe a neighbor grounding a wire with current in it..these wires are all insulated ...what do you think?

I just installed a new tub surround and ran a bead of caulk around everything that I needed to. It was smoothed and allowed to dry. I have noticed that in a few places the caulk as receeded into where the two walls meet and I don't want water collecting there. Can new caulk be laid over this other "new" caulk from yesterday in order to fill in these "gaps"?
Thanks!
