I just installed a new tub surround and ran a bead of caulk around everything that I needed to. It was smoothed and allowed to dry. I have noticed that in a few places the caulk as receeded into where the two walls meet and I don't want water collecting there. Can new caulk be laid over this other "new" caulk from yesterday in order to fill in these "gaps"?
Thanks!

yes it can no problem......the trick to setting a good bead of caulk is different for every job.....u cant just say cut so much of the tip off because it depends on the size gap ur caulking.....if its just a normal gap where the surround walls meet it should only be about 1/8" or so in that case cut the tip of ur caulk down about 1/8" then u shoud have about a 1/4" opening in the tip....then with a steady force on the trigger start ur bead while steady squeezing on the trigger and u shoudl have an almost perfect bead that u can just go over with a wet finger to get it perfectly smooth.......hope i helped u both...good luck=)

first of all use a squeeze tube of caulk, soak it in hot water for 10 min prior to using , this will make the caulk take longer to set and you longer to do what you want to it, after you put your caulk on put really warm water in a bowl or bucket this way you can dampen your finger as you wipe but you dont wanna have water dripping of your hand, flick the water off then wipe or touch a damp paper towel with your wet hand to gat the water off before you wipe, any parts of the caulk the did not stick the first time you should take a razor and cut off as much as possible or maybe the wall is dirty and wont allow caulk to stick,if it is dirty you have to clean it before you caulk again..... allow 2 days to dry at least before you use again if not 3 days, put a fan in there or have air from a window or leave the door open good luck tina

It can but it won't look as good as one smooth continious bead. I still don't know how to pull a good bead of caulking. I also have to go back and smooth out low spots.
