My toilet used to flush very well, but lately in order to make anything flush you have to hold the lever down. I put in a new toilet kit, but the problem still continues. Can anyone tell me what I need to replace or do to fix this matter. Thank You ahead of time.

Take the lid off and look at the chain from the flush-handle to the flapper: if it's too loose (too much slack) the flapper won't stay up long enough to allow enough water out to empty the bowl properly. Also, if your toilet has an overflow tube (about 1" diameter, usually white) more or less in the center of the tank and coming up almost to the top of the tank, the water level should be about an inch or so below the top of the overflow tube...if the water level is too low, there's too little water to empty the bowl; new 'fill-valves' are fairly easy to adjust to raise the water level. I prefer the FluidMaster toilet-guts products.

sometimes hard water clogs the little holes that the water flows from into the bowl. try getting some tape and covering those holes then dump vinager in the tank. let it sit for a few days if possiable then drain. I have never done this before, i have always jsut replaced the toilet, but a master plumber friend told me this could work

After time, buildup may occur in the drain lines. Toilets need atmospheric pressure to flush. think of a straw. dip it in water then put your finger over the top and take the straw out of the water... the water stays in the straw. remove your finger then the water leaves the straw. same idea with your toilet. if it isnt getting enough air in the drain line, it could drain slowly. pull the toilet and jet the line.

I would guess the water level is not high enough, or the outlet pipe has become clogged which prevents the water from pulling through the syphon.
