I am thinking of buying a home that has the entrance to the cellar threw the floor in the bedroom. the problem is that the cellar is in bad shape. The walls are cracked and so there is seepage and when it rains there is 1-2 inches of water. It drys out quickly but concerned about mold getting in to the house. would it be better to just fill it with concrete or do something else. the cellar is in really bad shape!

I would not buy the house without it being repaired before I put my money down on it. The repair work could get costly, especially if the walls are part of the foundation. This one could eat your lunch for you. Have a qualified home inspector go over the home and find all the things wrong. I can't tell you how important this is. They will find things that you never thought of or knew about. It is worth the money, since this will most likely be your biggest investment that you'll make. good luck.

If the cellar is in bad shape, so is the foundation.
Have a P.E. evaluate before you buy this one.

FORDMAN IS RIGHT ON THE MONEY: NOTWITHSTANDING THERE ARE COATING SYSTEMS AVAILABLE SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS KIND OF PROBLEM. I MYSELF WOULD NOT BUY SUCH A HOME BUT IF YOU SITUATION REQUIRES IT I WOUKD GET A REPAIR ESTIMATE ALONG WITH THE INSPECTORS REPORT SO I WOULD KNOW EXACTLY WHERE I STOOD....GOOD LUCK
