The rod on my toilet (the one that goes from the handle to the chain) just broke. How do I replace it? How do I disconnect the broken rod from the handle?

My son left his fork on the plate he was reheating and turned the microwave on. The fork was touching one side of the microwave when it arced and there is now no coating on a 1 in by 1/8 in. place on one of the inside walls. Is the microwave still safe to use? Is there some way I can repair it?

My old roommate (who just up and left three months ago) lost his key to my apartment when he was here and took off three different window screens trying to get in through open windows. I am trying to get screens back on now. The screens themselves looks fine on all three.. they don't have any rips or holes, but the frames are damaged and bent and I would assume unrepairable. The frames all look similar to this "before" picture I found.. maybe a little bit worse.

Can anybody give me any direction in repairing this.. preferably low cost, since it's an apt. (I'm getting charged a lot of money if I have the complex do it). I talked to some guy at The Home Depot... but he had no idea what I was talking about.

My fiance and I are having a disagreement about this. He thinks it turns cold, but I know it turns hot. Actually, our shower doesn't do anything when you flush, but usually they turn hot, correct?

We have a two story cape cod with 3 bathrooms. There are 2 on first floor, 1 on second. The upstairs bathroom is fine, flushes fine. The first floor bathrooms flush fine when there is only urine in them in addition to toilet paper. (cottonelle) With BOTH of the bathrooms on the first floor anytime someone has a bowel movement and flushes it either flushes and water comes up high almost like there isn't enough suction or something? OR it has to be plunged to even go down. Now we had the septic pumped, we have a 1500 gal tank and its now empty. Plunging is having to be done alllllllll the time.........If there was something stuck in the pipes would it affect both bathrooms though? My hubby snaked master bath without getting anything. I would greatly greatly appreciate any idea's or help!! Can you use like that LYE stuff in toilets? Clueless here!!

The plumber quoted us a whopping $500+ not even including the $695 faucet!! I can get an entire washing machine or refrigerator for less than that!!!

My tractor starts, after about 10 minutes of cutting it loses power, then stops. I have changed oil fiter and gas filter. The oil looks clean and I used mobil gas. I do see some clear smoke coming from the front section of the motor. I am stumped.

I just moved in to a new place and the water coming out of the shower head is ridiculously slow. It even fluctuates in temperature. But I'm willing to live with fluctuating temperatures. I need to fix the exertion of water though. Its way too weak!

some of you may be familiar with my situation....

anyway, i replaced the air and fuel filters and replaced the fuel lines- lots of muck in there. the engine seems to have improved a bit but its still not up to my specs. watch the vid:

is the engine supposed to rev higher, as it does when i move the throttle with my finger? why doesnt it stay all the way at the end? there is a small spring attached to that same arm, is that for the governor?
please help! im so close to getting this tractor perfect!!

If i flush my master bathroom toilet while the shower is running, it will cause the shower to drain VERY slow and cause the toilet to sometimes overflow. Also, when the shower is running, the toilet will make a "gurgling" kinda noise like air bubbles are coming up through the toilet. What can i do to fix this without calling a plumber?

I had a roofer out here and he said that I have missing shingles and some minor hail damage, BUT, I have a noticible leak in my laundry room and you can see the outline of a piece of sheet rock in my livingroom ceiling. Now the paint smell wont go away. I have not painted the closets or bathroom in years (it is a half bath that has no shower or tub in it). Help.

the builders renewing our sewer drains discovered a split storm drain or a drain for a spring...no-one knows , its leaking water constantly, our insurance wont pay up, the water company wont take responisbility and no-one, not even the land registry know of this pipe. does this mean that we have to foot the bill for any repairs/ investigation??? what can we do, we are at a dead end and looking at a big bill :(
