The whole house air conditioner is on and the vent in my room is working but my room is hotter than the rest of the house. I'm only 13 so I can't do anything major like remove the carpet or anything. I'm just looking for some quick tips to cool it off.

Do you have a heating problem in the winter too? If so you likely have a return air restriction because your room is sealed. If this is the case opening the door will fix the problem since most return air vents are located in the hall. If opening the door fixes the problem but you would like to keep your privacy, have a vent installed in your door to allow the air to circulate to the hall.

Your house AC is not properly balanced, it would be nice if your folks called in someone truly knowledgeable about balancing flows in the home.......few people really understand it. You might try finding the coolest room in the house and that is hardly used...and closing the vent....especially it if is on the same ductwork as your room...Woo Hoo!

Failing that, make sure you don't get heat gain through the window, keep drapes or blinds shut when sun is streaming in. Adding something underneath might help, I've used foamboard cut to the window size and slip it in when needed.

If you are at the top of the house, over a garage with poorly insulated floor or other building problem.......you are sunk. Get a fan. Just keeping the air moving helps. At night sneak down and sleep in the cool rooms. Don't make a big deal about it, just do it.

Don't open windows, that's defeats the AC.

open your bedroom door..place a fan in the doorway blowing in...you will be able to get some cooler air from the rest of the house and it will cool it down..let your parents know this also in case there may be a problem with the air system

Place a bowl full of ice water in your room in front of the air vent. If the air vent is on the ceiling or high on the wall, place a fan to blow water on the bowl.

If you don't have a ceiling fan, get one. Maybe paint the room a lighter color, if you can. Good luck!
