First, ask friends and neighbors who they have worked with, and who they felt was good. Next look on the Better Business Bureau website to find out more about the company. Lastly, you can call the company, and ask straight out how many jobs do they work, what is their satisfaction rate with customers, what happens if they don't do a good job...etc.

You could check the Better Business Bureau. They won't cover absolutely everything, certainly not the little Mom-and-Pop type operations. But they do have some good information.
