My tractor starts, after about 10 minutes of cutting it loses power, then stops. I have changed oil fiter and gas filter. The oil looks clean and I used mobil gas. I do see some clear smoke coming from the front section of the motor. I am stumped.

Could be the ignition coil is bad--cuts out after it gets hot. No way i know of to check it. Try the new electronic ignition module, too. Costs about $15, aftermarket.
But, if machine is old, it may not be worth spending a lot of money on it.
Also, have you cleaned out the area under the flywheel cover? A mousie nest, or grass and leaves, will make it run hot. And grass burns, too. remove the 4 bolts and lift off the cover--might be surprised by what you find in there!

It could be getting hot. Check the air flow through the cowling. It could be clogged up with grass clippings. The ignition module could be going bad. It is not unusual for them to fail as they get hot. When it dies, check the spark. If there is no spark, check it again when it cools down. Check the sparkplug wire for breaks. You can have the ignition module checked at a small engine repair shop. They cost around $60.00 to replace.
Don't pay any attention to comments about sears, they don't make the tractor and they don't make the engine. They have nothing to do with parts failing. All makes and models need repair from time to time.

The next time that it quits, immediately check for spark. If you don't have spark it could be the coil. If you do have spark than you may want to start looking at a fuel issue. There is a solenoid on the bottom of the carburetor if it is a briggs engine. If that solenoid fails it will shut the fuel off. By turning the key from the off to run position you should be able to hear the solenoid click. When the engine dies, if you have spark check that solenoid.
