I don't know anything about AC units. I have a trane unit fitted for a 1500 sqft town house. A couple of weeks ago I noticed water gathering inside the kitchen around where the duct work is installed. Now when I turn on the AC there is hardly enough air coming though to blow a feather. I changed the filters and checked the circuit breakers. Any suggestions on what it may be? cost?

Doesn't seem as if the compressor even wants to start. Fired it up for the first time this season and only the fan operates. What could be the problem? My guesses so far are 1. Thermostat (but I thought the compressor would at least come on for a second). 2. Some relay for the compressor (I can't hear the compressor even try to turn on). This unit is only about 3 years old. Must be something simple.

Help!

I wanted to install a line of LED lighting underneath the overhang of the deck over the pool. Think the right angle at the top of the liner, where the liner meets the deck. It won't be in the water, but I wanted to run a line of lighting around the circumference of the pool. Even though, is there a regulator you have to attach to the line somewhere so that voltage can not flow into the water unchecked? Just in case any current got into the pool itself.

I bought a cheap Air Conditioner last year. It worked ok. I live on the top floor of my apartment building so it gets pretty hot during the day. I leave the AC on low all day because I have long-haired cats.

This year, the AC cools for 10, 15 minutes, makes a loud sound like "DONK" and then only the fan keeps working. After 10 minutes it makes another sound, like a thick click, and it starts cooling again. It just keeps cycling like that, regardless of how warm or cool the room is. It barely cools anything off. It is a cheap one, a Haier... one of those Made in China brands, and you can't add freon.

Is it dying? Did I 'burn it out" by running it almost non-stop all last summer?

I have a small, one bedroom condo, and need to replace my 34 year old natural gas furnace and 19 year old a/c. How much should I expect to pay to have the old stuff taken out, and to have the new stuff installed? Or could I do it myself?

I've heard that you can't use bleach because it kills the organisms that are in there to help breakdown the gunk? What do you suggest?

I HAVE A 1" X 4" PIECE OF WOOD SURROUNDING THE DOORWAY ITSELF SO YOU CANNOT SEE THE ACTUAL DOOR JAMB.. i do not need answers that say with a ruler or tape measure. i believe i should measure from the inside to inside however do not know if the door is measured from the 1" side to the other entire side or if i measure it from the 4 inch part to the four inch part. when youre facing the door you see the 1 inch part all around the doorway.when you are standing in the doorway and look to the sides you are viewing the 4 inch part.of the wood.thanks in advance.

Ive got a fire that looks like a real coal fire with an open flue. However when it is windy dirt comes down; and when its cold it creates a draft. How can I block this up yet remove the block when I want to use the fire; without the use of paper.
I would prefer something that looks ok and not a fire hazard. I understand that if this was left blocked if I lit the fire it would more than likely become a health hazzard but it will be removed.

sounds like someone is hitting the side of the ventilation shaft with a hammer, but it only happens once right when the fan kicks on. If you look at it, it looks fine. I get woke up all night long because my room is in the basement. I need sleep, need to be on time to work, I need help from someone who might have had the same problem, I don't want to lose this job!
