My Maytag dishwasher is making a very loud grinding/buzzing noise. It begins a few minutes into a cycle (any- I've tried all of them, even just rinse). I know that it is not a normal noise, as it has just recently and suddenly began...Any ideas on what the problem may be??? any suggestions on how to fix this?

We have soft spots in our floors one has gone all the way through. We don't know if it would be best to take floors out and put new ones in or just cover existing floor.

We have 2 toilets running off 1 line into a septic tank. The indoor toilet continuously gets blocked. We have taken the loo off and checked the S bend, the down pipe and the main line and cannot find a blockage. The water still doesnt flush through when toilet is operated it just builds up and gradually siphons over time. We do not have a vent pipe for the indoor toilet only the outdoor. Could that create a problem? The outdoor toilet only backs up occasionally. Could we please only have serious answers as we are 100 klms from the nearest town and have repeatedly asked plumbers to come out to inspect but nobody is interested because of the distance. Thanks and we appreciate any advice given.

I was wondering since we did this past winter. It seems that the inside of the AC is dirty and I can't seem to get in there to clean it.

We have a Kenmore refridgerator/freezer with a freezer on top and the refridgerator on bottom. It seems that for some reason, there is water leakage from the freezer that is going all the way to the bottom of the fridge.

It seems cold enough, and this melting only happens occassionally. Both freezer and refridgerator are often very packed with stuff, and sometimes we open it a lot, but what is the problem?

What do you guys think?

If you guys need more details, let me know.

My wife and I are having a debate. She thinks that having a ceiling fan on in the room where the a/c control unit, will force more cold air onto the unit, thereby causing it to click off, while the rest of the house is still hot. I told her that a fan does not affect the temp in a room. She agrees, but thinks it will force the air from the a/c vents to the control unit too fast and cause it to shut off. Help.

I have a 5ft by 4 ft window on top of my entrance door and this rmoning there was loud and sharp noise and when i saw the window, it was all cracked and shattered.

It has not fallen dow as it is a tempered glass, I believe. My house is about 1.5 years old and I dont understand why this happened?

I dont see any visible signs of stone, ball or bullet i.e., there no holes in the glass (just cracks) and by looking at the pattern it seems to flow from top center outwards towards the bottom.

Thanks

My guess is that the humidifier may be leaking because I couldn't think of anything else. I checked it out and I don't see anything. I turn it off during the summer months. This just started happening so I don't know whats going on. Any ideas and/or remedies?

Ok, so we just got a new compressor installed in our heatpump. Its been a week since its been installed...There's a problem with low air flow coming out of the vents; and i mean all of the vents. its not just one. so it takes forever to cool the upstairs even though the air coming out of the vents is cold. This means our heatpump stays on pretty much all day and all night, and I know that is probably not good.

What is causing this low air flow? Do we have to call the repair people, or if there something I could do? Also, we recently had the filters replaced.

I'm considering an investment property that is over 50 years old. Should I assume the plumbing and eletricity need to be totally upgraded? Seller didn't mention any upgrades.

I heard mixed reviews on this idea. Please tell me how to install tile over tile. For the people who say it's a bad idea, please explain why using ceramic tile as a subfloor is inferior to a concrete or wood subfloor? There has to be a legitimate explanation other than "it's not the right way"

I moved into a new concrete block and stucco house that has permanent anchors around the windows for bolting on the hurricane shutters (metal panels). Some of the screw-in anchors have come out. Can I plug the holes with cement and drill a new hole to reattach the anchors? Or is there a better fix? What type of cement or substance should I use to plug the holes?

I live in a historic district that utilizes an ancient power ditribution system. As a result we are faced with MULTIPLE poweroutages every year. I am going to be buying a "Whole House" generator. I however, have no idea of the correct size. Rather than deal with a salesman who may provide me with information that suits his agenda (and pocketbook) rather than mine.

How do I correctly determine the load of all the circuits in my house?
We have a 100 amp electrical box with 4-30 amp , 5-15 amp, and 6-20 amp electrical breakers.
