Absolutely. The only place I draw the line is with gas connections and wiring 220 into the main panel. The first because I don't want to blow myself up and the second because I don't want to glow myself up.

I have not tackled any kind of maintenance or repairs yet, but I have heard that at places like Lowes, the Home Depot and such have people there that are supposed to go step by step on how to do things yourself, I would check into that, and I believe it is not supposed to cost anything for them to show you. Of course I dont think they come to your house to show you, so I would take notes if you do this. Good luck!

No one has experience until they do it. There are plenty of books and websites to get the proper way to do things. I find it very satisfying and much cheaper than hiring the work done.

Do you have a friend, neighbor, or relative that has a DIY project going? Offer to help. Your pay could be education, on how to do it right, or wrong. You might also get return help or advise on your projects.

by all means give it a shot... if your married it just gives you a good excuse to go buy cool tools... just remember measure twice and cut once... and always do it right because paying to have it done by someone the second time really stinks... good luck and have fun with it.... Patients is a plus...
