I was wondering since we did this past winter. It seems that the inside of the AC is dirty and I can't seem to get in there to clean it.

Is it ok, yes
However, you loose a lot of heat through the unit, even if the AC unit is covered

I went through AF basic in January/February. It does get a bit chilly in the mornings but it warms up nicely by mid-day. The TIs will tell you what to wear and everyone will have to wear the same thing on any given day. We generally wore both sweatpants and sweatshirt. It never snowed while I was there so I don't know about that, but we did do PT in light rainy conditions. Don't worry, you will be busy enough at first that you won't really have time to think about the group showers. And it doesn't take long at all before it's just a "meh, whatever" thing. And you won't have a line for the showers, the TIs are pretty good about keeping everyone busy doing stuff around the dorm. And the group falls into a routine fairly quickly. Too much to do to stand around. In the dorms anyway, your various processing stops most consist of you standing and waiting.

It won't hurt the air conditioner. The dirt comes more from the seasonal use. The only way to clean it right is to take it out, take it apart and clean the coils (evaporator, condenser), and all other parts, including the filter. I wouldn't recommend any thing stronger then a garden hose and some good house hold cleaner. Stay away from the controls! Let it dry out a day or two before re-installing.

I leave mine in the window 24/7 everyday day of the year. Has been in the window for over 10 yrs. Just cover it from the outside with a A/C cover pulled tightly. Of course do not turn it on when the cover is on. Remove before using.

I leave my 220 in and take the 110 out. Just cover the 220 on the outside and inside and feel for drafts so you don't waste energy in the winter.

It is not great. You at least need to "Winterize" it, and yes I did invent that word and if you want to use it, it is going to cost you 58 space dollars. Winterizing "S$58" means covering over the exposed end of the machine with tarp-like material and closing any air gaps around the window frame.

Good luck, don't forget to send the money to me
