I'd like to paint some vinyl shutters. All I have seen is the spray-on kind. like Krylon.

Most are spray on paints because spray on paints go on smoother and easier. The paints used on plastics in the plastics industry are spray paints. A brush on paint probably will also work, but maybe not quite as well. You may have more susceptibility of a brush on paint wanting to peel off over time.

Painting shutters would be the BEST reason for using spray paint. It would lessen the chance of runs in the tight areas of the shutters. I have not seen a plastic paint that is brushable but I would think that a larger paint store (Sherwin williams etc) would know.
