We generally keep our air condidtioning at home around 73 degrees. During the day we sometimes raise it to 75 and shut the blinds to keep it cool. Is this costing us more than just leaving it at 73 all the time?

My apartment toliet has overflown 2 times. I told the mantanice manager his respond, "if it happens again I'll call a plumber". I know a plumber has been here since that call because water was leaking from a light fixture and I left him a message. I saw a bucket under the fixture and the light still on. Yesterday the toliet over flowed again. These are major overflows, discusting, health concerns, costly, and time consuming, miserable. There is no reason this should be happening. It's a nice apartment really, I don't want to move I have only lived here 5 months. I'm not the best letter writer.

I'm not positive, but I believe the tank is a 120 gallon size tank. It supplies the energy for running my water heater and one large wall heater. I have been looking at regulators and I have no clue as to which one would be the appropriate and the safest type to get for this tank.

I'm not sure how much BTU it needs to be able to handle, or PSI, etc. I don't know whether it needs a high pressure regulator (which seems more likely to me) or not.

I've done some extensive searching for this information and maybe I'm looking in the wrong places (apparently), but I can't seem to find the information I need anywhere.

Any help?

We have a septic tank and have been told if you take care of it you never really have to empty it. I was told to use rid x once a month. Is this right? Can I use rid x more then once a month? If I use more then once a month am I harming the septic tank?

I bought a new thermostat recently and hooked it up. I know the wiring is correct because I checked the wires all the way back to the furnace. The furnace is working, but the air conditioner will not turn on even though the wiring should be correct. I checked the filter, and that is clean. The only other option suggested to me was that maybe the thermostat wasn't compatible with my furnace/air conditioner. How do I know I'm getting the correct thermostat? I checked the manuals, and they don't say anything about a specific thermostat needed. The new thermostat I have didn't have any specifications that I noticed (as in: Only use with certain voltage of furnace/certain brand, ect.) How can I tell?

I bought a new home two years ago. I have wall-to-wall carpet in most of the house. Though I vacuum my carpet everyday and deep clean it once a month, the carpet is starting to get smashed down and doesn't "fluff" back up when I clean it. Now, this is in areas of high traffic. How can I make my carpet "fluff" back up, and not look so worn down? Any tricks??

I've got to replace an old valve (pre-1976) under my bathroom sink. Just my luck, they changed the threads and the old compression nut will not fit the new valve. I have the tool I need, the "compression sleeve nut puller," which slightly resembles a wine-bottle opener, with two wings that attach behind the nut, and a center crank that should pull the nut off. However, when I try to use it, the wings snap off of the nut as I turn the crank, rather than pulling the nut & sleeve off. Any ideas (besides paying a professional)?

Hi all, I really have a stumper. The waste water drain line to my washer keeps backing up when the washer tries to spin it out. I have replaced the vent system so that it has suction, I have taken out the p trap, all of the lines are slanting down hill and it is still backing up water. All of the other plumbing in the house works great except the water being drained from the washer. The is no blockage that I am aware of. The house was recently purchased and by the looks of the laundry room floor that I just had to replace, noone else has been able to figure out this problem either. Suggestions are extremely welcome. I am at a loss.
Thank you for your time.
