Ok, so we just got a new compressor installed in our heatpump. Its been a week since its been installed...There's a problem with low air flow coming out of the vents; and i mean all of the vents. its not just one. so it takes forever to cool the upstairs even though the air coming out of the vents is cold. This means our heatpump stays on pretty much all day and all night, and I know that is probably not good.

What is causing this low air flow? Do we have to call the repair people, or if there something I could do? Also, we recently had the filters replaced.

CALL THE INSTALLER PROMPTLY AND HAVE THIS CHECKED.

We have a five ton and it sounds like it is EXTREMELY LOW ON freon (it has a number designation now)/ The unit should be shut off it is probably frozen up. About 6 weeks ago we had to have ours filled, it was doing exactly what your is doing.

Either they did not check the FREON when they installed the new compressor or it has leaked in the week since they installed.

Ours does this every year or two. But it is MANDATORY to have a good serviceman and have it serviced spring and fall.

They can somehow leak freon and this causes the continuous running and with it the freezing up. Plus the filters MUST be changed monthly, do not ignore it. I am bad about this, it will contribute to the unit freezing up.

We are in Florida and ours works year round, so excellent maintenance is absolutely mandatory.

Good Luck.
