Why do you need to go lower than 60 degrees? Are you storing meat or living in a walk in refrigerator? If you must have it lower you will need a new thermostat and you should check to see if your unit is able to operate at that capacity, some central air units will freeze up if over worked.

You don't. Even if you did manage to set the thermostat to 50 the house would never cool down to that. The only outcome would be to make your unit run constantly, run up your power bill, and possibly cause your AC to freeze up and damage the unit.
A residential AC unit is not designed to reach that kind of temperature. You have to remember that when you cool your house you're not only cooling the air but you're also cooling your couch, walls, floors, television, lamps, dog, as well as yourself.

Setting the thermostat below 60 wouldn't make the room get colder faster. So if you need to go below 60 then you need a walk-in refrigerator or something.

You are ruining your unit by trying to get to this temp. It will be overworked and fail quickly.
