Doesn't seem as if the compressor even wants to start. Fired it up for the first time this season and only the fan operates. What could be the problem? My guesses so far are 1. Thermostat (but I thought the compressor would at least come on for a second). 2. Some relay for the compressor (I can't hear the compressor even try to turn on). This unit is only about 3 years old. Must be something simple.

Help!

bypass the thermostat and see if that starts it.
bypass the limit there up on top of the compressor .
if both of those are ok
check to see if it has a start capacitor
check and see if it is leaky or openor my fav HOLDING A CHARGE put a screwdriver across the leads and see if it pops after you momentarily charge it with a little bit of electricity if that is ok
then the switch is probably fried.

many compressors have a pressure switch and will not turn on if there is no charge....other than than you have to do some detective work with your volt meter.
