I have a small, one bedroom condo, and need to replace my 34 year old natural gas furnace and 19 year old a/c. How much should I expect to pay to have the old stuff taken out, and to have the new stuff installed? Or could I do it myself?

First of all you can not do this yourself. Their are several specialty tools and gages needed. At a minimum you must be EPA certified to handle the refrigerant in the system. It takes training and Knowledge. As far as price is concerned their are many, many options. For a standard system of your size I would say a good range is between $2500 and $4000 dollars - installed. Any less your probably getting substandard equipment and installation. A higher end system could run well into the $5000 - $6000 range.

Don't diy unless you are licensed to do so. You have a responsibiliy to all other condos. Don't risk it.
Expect about $2,000.00-$3,000.00 + or -.
New units are a combo, heat and A/C.
