There's some sticky stuff and other little things stuck apparently under my sliding door that now makes it VERY difficult to open and close my sliding glass door...I pretty much need to lift it and move it step by step, rather than a smooth motion. How can I cure this problem? Thanks :)

I want to replace my 12000Btu Sharp window AC with a new 10.8 EER one having the same BTUs. The old one has a strong blower which made it great for reaching down into our family room 5 steps below and 35 feet away from the dining room where the unit is installed. the old unit was rated 278 PSIG at high. The new unit is about 280 CFM.

Our hot water comes off the heating system. We had it set to the recomended temp of 120 degrees. We would get hot water from the sinks, but not the shower. We have now set the water temp to 200 degrees in order to get the water hot enough at the shower, but now it scalds at the sinks.
I was told it was the valve on the shower. The water selector says "Symmons model B temptrol" and is a single control valve.
Is that faulty? Can we replace it ourselves? We have an access panel behind the shower, so it's easy to get to. We have no real plumbing experience, but my boyfriend is a mechanic, so he can figure out most home projects.

No, I did not know that you can't put dishwashing liquid (dawn) in my dishwasher since I was out of dishwashing detergent. Yes, I know, not one of my brighter moments. I was surprised when my entire kitchen was covered in suds, like a big bubble bath in my kitchen. Now every time I start up my dishwasher it does the same. HELP!

I'm a soon to be first time home owner with an in ground pool. I'm no slouch, I can soak up information and dedicate a good amount of time to this...if it's worth it. So is this something an average person can do? Or is this best left to a pro?

My dad gave me a B&D router, 1616 Super Deluxe. Seems to be a good router but it's missing the arbor...I thought I would use my internet skills and find the part and order, but much to my dismay they do not make that part anymore. Can anyone help. I would hate to spend over 100$ for a new router when I have a perfectly good one here.

Thanks,

My fireplace is not very effecient, and I need something to cover the screen to keep the heat or cool air from going up the chimney. Years ago, we had friends who had a magnetic "blanket" but I can't seem to find any.

Hi - my dishwasher's anti-flooding device has been activated. This is an alarm that is triggered in the event of a water leak in the dishwasher. I've fixed the blockage that caused the anti-flooding device to work (Total Acquastop) but now can't find a way to get the dishwasher to start drawing water and worki properly again.
Have read the manual and guess what . . . .it doesn't tell you!
It just says get in touch with the service centre ( so that they can send an engineer out to press a few buttons and charge you around £160 quid for the priveledge!!)
Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

In the past I've always lived in single story homes. This past summer I moved to a two story condo here in California.

I very much like my new place...yet, when the temperature is set to a comfortable setting for downstairs...it's too warm upstairs upstairs as the heat rises.

Any suggestions to keeping both upstairs and downstairs comfortable. Keeping upstairs cooler ?

It works for short time, then slows down for some reason. The neon part is plugged in but the clock is battery operated. I am wondering if the neon light has something to do with it losing time? How I don't know but maybe someone can shed some light on the subject. Here is what the clock sort of looks like.
